topeira
hey guys. im really new to editing and i followed the explenations on how to make the game run with edited files and i can actually do it. now im trying to edit the weapons and im looking for someone that actually knows what the parameters mean. for example here is the pistol part in the weapons.xml file: <weapon type="PISTOL"> <data slot="HANDGUN" firetype="INSTANT_HIT" damagetype="BULLET" group="PISTOL_SMALL" targetrange="45.0" weaponrange="50.0" clipsize="17" ammomax="1500" timebetweenshots="233"> <damage base="35" networkplayermod="3.0" networkpedmod="1.0"/> <physics force="50.0"/> <reload time="2000" fasttime="2000" crouchtime="2000"/> <aiming accuracy="9.5"> <offset x="0.15" y="1.0" z="0.55"/> <crouchedoffset x="0.2" y="1.0" z="0.05"/> <reticule standing="0.65" ducked="0.55" scale="0.05"/> </aiming> <pickup regentime="120000" ammoonstreet="30"/> the chracteristics are: targetrange- weaponrange- clipsize- ammomax- timebetweenshots- damage base - networkplayermod - networkpedmod - physics force - reload time- fasttime- crouchtime- aiming accuracy- offset- crouchedoffset- reticule standing- ducked- scale- pickup regentime- ammoonstreet- now im not sure what exactly is every parameter but here is what i HAVE figured out: targetrange- what's this? does it have anything to do with the target health display? weaponrange- affectiveness of gun at different distances. clipsize- duh. ammomax- duh again. timebetweenshots- rate of fire . i changed the pistol from 333 to 233. damage base - how powerful the gun is. duh. networkplayermod - what is this? networkpedmod - what is this? physics force - the push of the impact. physical effect. right? reload time - i thought it's "how long it takes to reload" but im not sure... fasttime - what is this? crouchtime - what is this? aiming accuracy - i modified the pistol and SMGs to aroun 9.0 instead of 0.5 and it works better for me. the recoil is harsher and i like it. offset - im curious about this, what's that? crouchedoffset - what's that? reticule standing - this seems to be the size of the reticule but has no affect no the accuracy ducked - same as above scale - the size of the raticule compared to the accuracy. when making accuracy around 9.0 i needed to change the scale to 0.05 to make is closer to the actual hit radius. pickup regentime - that's for MP , right? how long it takes for the pickup to respawn. right? ammoonstreet - again for MP? not sure. can anyone help me clarify what the other parameters do? im dying to know. when accuracy is concerned it seems like the first shot is always dead on but the later shots are less accurate. im still looking for a way to make the first shot less accurate as well so SMGs will have less accuracy and less recoil while ARs will have more on both. maybe this will balance them in the game instead of making ARs overall better. the hubster
targetrange- possibly the maximum distance you can lock on to enemys at networkplayermod - multiplier on the amount of damage done when a player shoots the gun in MP networkpedmod - multiplier on the amount of damage done when a ped shoots the gun in MP offset - How much the bullets are offset from the origin crouchedoffset - How much the bullets are offset from the origin when the player is crouching I think ya got the rest correct, if your not sure about any of them then just try change em and see if there is an effect. Note i'm 99.9% sure that changing the network/MP ones will only work if your hosting a LAN game. Edited December 7, 2008 by the hubster
topeira
accuracy feels a lot like recoil. cuz the first shot goes dead on i the center but the others loose accuracy as u press the button. what i did was increase accuracy's number on the AK and M4. AK to 22 and M4 to 19 and they now have a harsh recoil to resemble the control of an AR. the AK has also gotten a boosy in damage from 30 to 40. it's firing a 7.62 after all. SMGs as an accuracy of about 10, in comparison. pistols on 4. so offset is recoil? is there a way to make even the first shots inaccurate? i dont want them to be dead in the center.... :\ EDIT: after testing - the offset factors affect where does the model of the character is pointing the gun. making offset to , say, -10 will get the character to point the gun to the sky while still firing accurately. i dont get the loading thingy. it says "speed" but i put 10000 or 100 instead of 2000 and its exactly the same.
