I'm (deliberately) not getting my hopes up about any gigantic increase in performance... Why would there be? Why wouldn't they have implemented it pre-release? They absolutely must have known how badly it ran on a huge number of systems, and I'm fairly certain they'd have fixed it before release if it was even possible without a major re-work. It'll address some, but it won't be the be-all-end-all fix people are looking for. What I would like to know is what exactly is MS's involvement in this whole "cerfification" process? I mean, do they just have some guy install it, run the game, and say "Yep, it works! Upload it." I would imagine this has to involve testing out the bug fixes that R* claims are in the patch, and verify that they actually work. And that's good and well on an Xbox 360 where everyone has the same system, but it's not like it's as easy to "certify" a patch on PC's as it is consoles. If it's done, just upload the damn thing and let us be the ones who certify it. We're already beta testers for the full game, might as well let us see the patch too. And also, where is MS in this whole thing? This is a "Games for Windows Live" title, and undoubtedly it is THE GFWL title, as there are so few of them on PC to begin with. A lot of people were anxiously awaiting this game, and needless to say the reception isn't too great due to technical issues. And yes, R* makes the game, so the overwhelming majority of it is on them, but if you're going to be certifying patches, having companies release updates through your service, etc, then you know what, you should be holding them accountable just as much as we are. Can you imagine if GTA IV was released like this on the 360? MS would be going crazy right now, demanding answers from R*. But, as usual, PC Gamers are brushed to the side, treated like the lower-class citizens they obviously think we are. It would be quite nice to see MS put some pressure on R* saying "This is crap, fix it." It would be nice for some of these people to realize where it all started: PC. And this is still BY FAR the platform where you can have the most creativity, flexibility, and capability to create a game only limited by your imagination. I would rather see a company not release a game at all then half-ass it and shrug their shoulders when people call them on it. One word, R* (And MS): Accountability. Have some. Haha, that one really made me laugh Well, I can't imagine either why the certification takes so long. The retail version of GTA IV had to be certified by Microsoft before release too, so I have a pretty good impression by now of how much this process actually does to ensure quality. As far as I read the patch notes do not mention anything about improving performance. Personally I'm mostly waiting for the minigame mouse fix, it's the only thing that's currently really bugging me.
