F*kc those who have hi-end pc with Quad core + uber x2 video cards and still whining the game slows down a bit.

i have effin` core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 2gb ram, vista WITH SP1, ATI Radeon HD2600 and even in safe mode i cannot get pass 18fps. 13 is avarage. that is not just fair! f*kc Rockstar for this, and shove damn future pc up yours! optimize damn game which i paid for to work at least on min settings smoothly.

There is no point of preorder if you can play game only about week later, because of Great optimisation.

Put you stunningly beautiful HD graphics in your a** and make the option for default console graphics at least if you don`t know how to port game right. look at Gears of War, UT3 and many more. runs smoothly. Even Crysis runs about 4-5x better on medium settings and there really IS Stunningly beautiful graphics!

waiting for patch, so i could a bit play the damn game on min at least.

P.S. sorry for my bad english and anger.

You are running the game in safe more? How can that be when the GPU driver isn't loaded?

I think, he means GTA's safemode (-safemode parameter sets everything on low)

The fact that they were working on this patch before they shipped the game is extremely telling. Combine that with them shirking all responsibility and laying the blame on the end-user for every error resulting from sloppy coding/extreme lack of beta testing in the IGN interview; and it gives you a good look at the real r*.

Ah, that explains it.

Even though, from what people reported, the game is even less optimized on low settings. So safemode is everything but safe biggrin.gif

you know I spent at least 1300 on my new rig. I want to play the game good. I have i think about 47 fps all high, the last thing I except is a stupid error who says i'am out of my video memory. So don't hate the player hate the game....

Micro-Shaft does seem to take forever to certify software, but we shall see. Those who are running ATI new drivers should be up Wednesday.

No i dont think the texture problem is going to be fixed in this patch

I would imagine as others have said they have known about all the issues addressed in this patch since gold hence why its in for cert so quickly.

All the issues they didnt know about (eg the textures problems maybe) will probably be addressed in the next patch.

I've had some quality time with this version now and can safely say its worth the hassle once its working so give them some time and hopefully these boards will fill up with good things!

Is this patch going to fix the problem of the game not saving your settings when you quit? I keep changing the graphics settings, and turning the replay clip option off, but next time I start the game they've reset themselves.

Doubtful the patch will help you. Your CPU is not very quick for this game.

It's more the GPU causing the problem, I'd guess. I've got no problem with an X2 5000+ and 2GB 800+ DDR2.

Its a memory leak which is the problem... the memory isn't be ellocted properly to where it needs to be and offload the graphics from what isn't needed has of yet...

the graphics are flakey

The GPU is fine - I have a 9600GT and get 45fps at 1280x1024 in the benchmark. At 1024x768 I get 53fps. The difference is I have a Q6600.

It isn't a high end GPU but at these resolutions and coupled with a decent CPU, it is more than adequate to run this game at a decent framerate.

Default RivaTuner and GTA IV

Problem description: incorrect rendering in GTA IV on NVIDIA hardware(missing textures)

Problem background: opening <Textures> tab in RivaTuner's Direct3D settings window then closing it (even without changing the settings) disables some FourCC formats support in NVIDIA driver (INTZ/RAWZ). GTA IV cannot work properly if these formats are not supported by the driver.

Temporary solution: use RivaTuner's <Reset all the driver's settings to their default values> button to re-enable these FourCC formats. Reboot is required to apply the changes. If you don't have RivaTuner installed or if you used any other tweaking tool to alter supported formats list then just start RegEdit and search and delete all D3D_54082152 registry entries. Reboot is required to apply the changes.

Until new RivaTuner version release please avoid opening <Textures> tab, because it will disable required FourCC formats again.

Full solution: New version of RivaTuner will add INTZ/RAWZ to editable list of supported FourCC formats.

I'd like to thank Josh, Kevin and Oscar @ Rockstar for quick problem report and for cooperative problem investigation. From my experience, I rarely see game developers that care about compatibility with third party software. I really wish all game developers to have such professional attitude to quality control.

so correct me if i am wrong....this patch DOES NOT fix the missing textures problem?

Its not an game issue, that is user error. Check for newest driver updates, virus/trojans or corrupted files.

This IS a Bug within the game, some people are getting missing textures after a while of playing, so this seems to be the product of a memory leak.

Its a shame that nvidia and amd should fix the sh*t of crappy porting from R* Toronto.

Driver are of course not flawless, too. But R* only tested with the latest Beta drivers ?

Suggesting people to install not WHQL certified drivers to run a game properly is just embarassing.

It's like, whoa , its us R* , install BETA drivers, other games could be f*cked up, but the important thing is GTA IV is running suicidal.gif .

I mean GTA IV is great, but i don't bought my system only for GTA IV gaming wink.gif

anyways ...

give us the patch m$ ... come on ... you have your "xboc360 headset needed"-sh*t in the game , now do R* and all of us a favor and release it today !!! suicidal.gif

Go for the Phenom. I have the x2 6400 Black Edition 3.2Ghz and it's running at 98 - 100% with GTAIV.
