thastrogg Posted December 6, 2008 Author Share Posted December 6, 2008 It worked man, i have played on these settings, killed myself and when i was at hospital, the textures started loading up slowly. i spawned a heli and let it load the whole map, and it pretty much worked for me. foxfire29 Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 hi thaCURSEDpie Your command switches have helped me realise that some of the commands which are given out and said as fixing a problem are sytactically incorrect, I know this as I applied your command line entered switches and they work great and I can see the changes in the "in game" menu GUI Also the game looks great at highest settings , I also noticed that the graphics aint some future proofed graphics, they are just a tad better than the previous GTA which ran 10* better, heck the min you walk outside with it on top settings the guy doesnt just stutter he pauses frame! for a while then moves a bit and the hard drive activity light goes nuts, yes I havent got a top card, just an 8600 but I happen to know many 8800 users get the same performance and theres something far wrong there. On the positive side I whapped my desktop rez on 800*600 and I can play on medium settings and the textures do look much better, need to test longer but fingers crossed Btw I took the maxmemm field out of your command but what amount of memory should I put in for a 8600GT? Even though I can play on medium I have put it on low for the time being as peformance has always been number one to me and I really wish gaming commanys would stop making games with really demanding and unoptimised lighting algoithms for the minority with so called top notch cards which usually get hit quite bad with optimisation issues as well. I just wish more thought like myself in that respectable graphics but mainly gameplay / story and performance are top priority The fact is I would buy top notch cards alot until nvidia went crazy and brought one out every 5 mins also where sli is concerned its sh*t and they havent fixed the inherant problems with it yet move on pumping out newer models, add to that, it was in the past the case that buy a top notch card and get 3.5 years out it but you would need to be buying a top notch card once every 6 months to play everything so I dont see the point unless they bring the prices to better levels. relliksoul Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 the actuall solution to this problem is to uninstall graphics drivers, download a program that deletes all trace of graphics drivers such as 3d guru driver sweeper, restart in safe mode, (usaully F8, or F8 repeatedly on newer m-boards), then run the sweeper program, reinstall graphics driver while in safe mode, and your done, happy playing! warlordcs Posted December 7, 2008 Share Posted December 7, 2008 all these texture fixes that people are posting WILL NOT WORK WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE DELAYED TEXTURE PROBLEM!!!!! if your game show fine for the first 10 minutes of play and it starts losing textures than that is an entirely different problem. its most likely not even the video card at fault, the problem lies somewhere in the ram or hdd, something in the code is not letting it dump unused textures and then it just fills up your memory untill you cant load anymore.
