Your after settings are higher than your before settings. Why don't you keep them like your before settings and try again?

Yeah missed that I used wrong settings 2nd go around.. here's updated with same video settings.

BEFORE with 180.7s:

Average FPS: 37.01

Duration: 37.07 sec

CPU Usage: 82%

System memory usage: 38%

Video memory usage: 100%

Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: High

Render Quality: Highest

View Distance: 25

Detail Distance: 100

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2

Video Driver version: 180.70

Intel® Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz

AFTER with new 180.84s:

Average FPS: 46.02

Duration: 37.06 sec

CPU Usage: 82%

System memory usage: 38%

Video memory usage: 100%

Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: High

Render Quality: Highest

View Distance: 25 (this can go up to the 40s now with no slow down in fps in benchmark)

Detail Distance: 100

Video Driver version: 180.84

Intel® Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz

//as a side note.. ive been able to take view distance up from 25 to the 40s with no drop in fps. Matter of fact it goes up some times. Shadows are maxed, detail distance is as well. I got cars set to 15.

///I Run with target: "-norestriction -novblank -noprecache -nomemrestrict /high"

What does the commands

-novblank

-noprecache

-nomemrestrict

Can someone help me?

These drivers didn't work at all. Do I have to wait until Rockstar releases a patch?

I have a GeForce 8800GT 512mb.

Watinho: You need to delete the following file after installing new video drivers:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings\SETTINGS.CFG

The game should now remember the changes you make.

P.S. I'm using an nvidia card

P.P.S. That's for XP, the path in Vista will be slightly different.

Did you try deleting the SETTINGS.CFG file as I described above?

Does someone know how to fix the texture bug? All the new drivers are installed. I think I'm going to hang myself. suicidal.gif

MSI motherboard with AMD 770 chipset

AMD Phenom Quad 9550

8GB DDR2

nVidia 9600GT

500GB SATAII HD (OS drive)

500GB SATA HD (Games drive (80GB full)

Game res settings 1280x1024

textures - medium

rendering - max

view distance detail - max

traffic density - 50

shadows - 8

Average FPS before new drivers 37-40

Average CPU usage before new drivers 86-88%

Average length of benchmark 37-38s

After 180.84 drivers are installed

Average FPS 37-40

Average CPU usage 80-83%

Average length of benchmark 37-38s

Improvements in game - Shadows are greatly improved (but not fully fixed), fewer graphical glitches.

It's a start, but it is never going to fix the bad coding within the game. nVidia have provided a workaround to enable the game to run for more people.

However, I see no difference in performance regardless of screen resolution or graphics detail. Display drivers are not going to fix this problem, only cockstar can.

Just installed these new drivers, my games sorted anyway. smile.gif

Getting in excess of 70FPS indoors and lowes it drops is to 28 in heavy traffic at full speed in a Felzer.Averaging 45-50FPS now out and about, hitting the 60s when walking around.

For me this driver is awsome, for others it still probably sucks unfortunatly.

Benches with the three different drivers I have used:

holy crap, that was faster than i thought. i'm trying it now. if it works, don't expect a response in the next hour as i intend to check if the memory leak is fixed or not.

It is indeed fast but you know what? I think R* and graphics cards manufacturers have been working on those issues and solutions for a longer time. I think the delay of the PC version was caused by those issues and eventually they decided to release the game and look for solutions after the release. I also think that some issues were solved because of the delay but they were not able to solve all of them.

Frankly, I don't care, as long as they solve all the problems becuase I paid for this game and I want something back for it.

For those of you bitching about not being able to install them on your laptop. You'll need to modify the INF file.

Anyway, these people here do just that:

http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22101

Either do it yourself, or wait for them to release the modified INF.

Once i get home from my GF's I'll be doing it for my 8400m.

Anyone have a link to a download page for the new beta drivers 180.84?

I can't find anything on nvidias hp. I expecially would like to know which cards it is intended for.

The 180.xx drivers on nvidias hp doesn't mention 7600 cards, but there is a post in this thread with a dude saying he installed them.

As for myself, I have a 7600GT, 2gig ram, core2duo. The game runs smoothly on lowest settings. But I have no in-game menu, and no mini-map just the minimap-blips.

balls.......the new driver doesnt make any difference to me, still missing textures all over the place

Exactly. If Rockstar doesn't release a patch for this soon, I'm going to drown puppies.

Don't drown puppies, they aren't responsible for the game, drown a few Rockstar employees instead! Well, I'm going to download these new drivers, but the core of the problem appears to be the game more than anything else, and only a patch by Rockstar is going to do the job. Hopefully we'll be getting one of those over the coming days, as those shadows and the lack of AA are really beginning to annoy me.

drown a few cats as well for good luck and do it by the light of the full moon and maybe then we will get this game fixed

Well, the updated NVIDIA driver hasn't really made any improvement to the performance I'm getting, but it may have sorted out one or two of the crashes/memory leaks, as since updating the drivers I haven't had any crashes in the game.

Too bad there aren't any Rockstar employees in my country. cryani.gif

I'll be fine with puppies.
