These drivers won't install for my laptop sad.gif

There are usually special drivers for the mobile versions of the Nvidia GPU's used in laptops.

Wow, these new drivers fixed everything for me..... sarcasm.gif

I deleted all old drivers with driver sweeper in safe mode too before installing these new drivers. Still no textures.

Is there anyone else out there still not seeing textures either?

(9800 GTX+)

Hello everybody, I'm new here. tounge.gif

I didn't buy the game yet, but I'm reading all the threads in the last days and I think I'll get the game soon...

But I have a problem, when I try to install this driver, it says that I don't have any compatible hardware with it. I have a GeForce 8400GS, and I think it is compatible.

Well, then Windows Vista asks if the installation was succesful and bla bla bla... I clicked in 'No' and then the installation begins again, and this time it says that the drivers are designed for Windows Vista 32 bit, and that I'm not using this OS! Well, this time I'm pretty sure I am! Does anyone knows what is happening? Thanks for any help!

EDIT

Oh, I think that's the problem...

Do you have any links for those drivers?

Thanks!

you don't need to uninstall sod all. it's better that you keep the old one and install over it, so if the new driver backfires you can 'rollback' onto the original one.

Theres no difference between the 180.84 driver and the 180.70 driver as far as I can tell.

No frame increase, still get graphical artifacts, still get missing textures at times, shadows still look horrible, still can't export video, still can't play multiplayer.

Still a junkware game.

yeh.. im still waiting for this damn driver to download. But i can't get multiplayer to work either. It just keeps aying game loading or some bs.

There you go, that's what it looks like forced through Rivatuner on a 8800gts 640m....obviously, this engine should get an award for best coding job of the decade.

Do you still try and play like that? Omg..

Its a moot point at best because as you'll see from the visible artifacts, forcing it doesn't even get rid of the jaggies...on the upside my frames are through the roof.

I just h4xx0red the drivers and installed them. I got the same card as you, so I'll report back how well it fairs.

Nope. I tried forcing AA through the nVidia Control Panel, no luck.

i have a little problem ........

http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/365/problemff2.jpg

does someone knows how to solve this?

Vista can be picky about installing drivers over top of the bloatware nvidia crap that automatically installs once you remove any previous nvidia drivers....its the biggest pain the ass but I think if you turn of UAC and boot into safe mode you should be able to install them. Make sure you turn off automatic hardware updates in the control panel

Definitely runs better now. Still a pain with all the textures that take their sweet time loading so you crash into invisible objects/walls every now and then and have buildings suddenly pop in right in front of you. Also, it refuses to save my gfx options now (Doesn't unset my 1280x1024 resolution though)...in fact it sets textures and rendering to high and bumps up the detail sliders a bit higher than I have them set...and it still runs pretty well though increases the amount of not properly loading textures fairly significantly.

BTW:

Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6Ghz

2 gig RAM

XFX Geforce 8600 GTS

32bit Vista

Benchmark refuses to load so I can't give actual FPS info but I'd personally say it's pretty good most of the time.

RANT ALERT

Sorry guys, it is in the hope someone from Rockstar reads this and gets their head out of their a$$.

My GTA IV "experience" so far:

Bought DVD game ... installed fine

Signed up for all this LIVE / Social Club crap (I mean really, do we NEED this stuff?)

Went to setup my graphics settings, thought I'd give the 'Benchmark' a go to make sure .... Boom!

Crash to desktop, error “GTA IV Fatal Error: RESC10”.

Tried again with 800x600 and ALL graphic settings on the lowest ... boom! Same error.

Rang UK Tech Support, suggested re-installing (great, just took most of the friggin' night to do that) Didn't help.

Then I see the '180.84_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_beta.exe' drivers were released, installed them.

Appears to solve the “GTA IV Fatal Error: RESC10” problem, good times!

But now when I try and play the game, the intro sequence is just a black screen with sound in the background, then it appears but is VERY choppy, then it goes black again, then yellow (WTF!) then black and never comes back. Bad times.

So, these drivers have solved one issue, but I STILL haven't played one second of the game yet.

Seriously, Rockstar, if you are reading this, DID YOU EVEN BETA TEST THIS GAME? If you did, fire the f'king lot of them, useless.

"Games For Windows" - yeah right, my copy will be going out of the f'king window if this steaming pile is not fixed soon.

Oh, and Rockstar - IT IS NOT MY PC, my specs blow the recommended ones out of the water, my system is well maintained and free of crap.

I have recently bought and had working perfectly fine, the following:

Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare’

Electronic Arts’ ‘Dead Space’ / ‘Crysis’ / ‘Crysis Warhead’

UbiSoft’s ‘Far Cry 2’ (Another total waste of money)

If my system was at fault, none of these would run, or I would at least see some sort of issue.

My PC specs in full:

Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 Service Pack 3 - 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236)

Intel Core2 Extreme Quad-Core QX6700, 775, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache, Retail

768MB EVGA 8800GTX KO Superclocked PCI-E 2000MHz GPU 626MHz ACS3 (Driver: 180.48 GeForce WinXP 32 Bit WHQL)

4GB CorsairTwinX XMS2 Dominator,DDR2 PC2-6400,240 Pins, NonECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP

Asus Striker Extreme NF680i SLI, S775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 533/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX

Terratec DMX6Fire 24/96 (Driver: v5.40.3.130)

Western Digital Raptor X 150GB SATA 16MB Cache (WD1500AHFD) (10,000 rpm)

Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 80GB SATA 8MB Cache (WD800JD) (7,200 rpm)

Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 200GB SATA 8MB Cache (WD2000JD) (7,200 rpm)

Western Digital RE2-GP 1TB SATA-II 16MB Cache (WD1000FYPS) (7,200 rpm)

2 x Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112

1000W Enermax EG1000EWL V2 Galaxy

Sort it out will ya.
