poncratias
I'm one of the lucky fellows who can run GTA IV, altough only offline, because Live won't let me connect. I experienced that i had no problems with fps and maxed graphics, so I tried the "-norestrictions" thing some posted here ( http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=379662 ) And look, Whoa, I can play on "High" Settings, everything maxed out, and I have no problems with fps at all! Edit: and i play GTA on 1360x768 But the best is, this is my System: Intel Core2Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz ATI Radeon HD 3870 2GB Ram So I have no "future" pc system or whatsoever, and I still can play GTA IV in full graphics, like I play Crysis on Ultra High !! FPS are no problem, there is no lagging EVER! So what Rockstar says simply isn't true, and those graphic restrictions have no reason ( what reason could they have?) EDIT: So this is my Benchmark, sorry it's in german, but i think u'll know whats what... I could not get the norestriction thing to work. I modified the shortcut and it still did not work.
poncratias
So this is my Benchmark, sorry it's in german, but i think u'll know whats what... As of the restrictions stuff: just edit ur shortcut like this: "D:\GAMES\GTA IV\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions and only start with that shortcut! never with the RGSC! carx0x
I could not get the norestriction thing to work. I modified the shortcut and it still did not work. I couldn't get it to work at first either...but then I tried: 1. Delete the SETTINGS.CFG file under C:\Users\[your user name here]\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings 2. Then start R*star Social Club, and LOG IN!!! It is important that you are logged in before the next step. 3. And finally click on the launchGTAIV.exe shortcut with -norestrictions added. GamerJerome
me to i almost run it on higest settings here a pic http://triton.imageshack.us/Himg361/scaled...e=578&ysize=480 without lag but only my gta iv crashes much then it freeze but it also does when i put my specs on low so it doesnt matter i think maby with a good grafical card u can play it on highest but the shadows are still sh*t i have a e8500 3.16 ghz and a nvidia geforce 9600 gt and i almost can play it on highest without lag but most of the time when i play gta iv it freezes and crash and also if i put my settings on low it freezes and crash so if i put it on higest or on low it stays the same so i hope a patch will fix it Edited December 5, 2008 by GamerJerome

poncratias
Ok so i tested it by playing 1 mission + a little extra driving around doing madness and stuff. So here is what I can tell: Only 1 Problem and that is that the amount of ammo for my guns doesn't show up now (??). I still got the gun icon in the upper right corner but no numbers below it. But Radar and everything else is ok. Oh, and the shadows are the same noisy grainy stuff as in medium settings. I got only 1 or 2 times a mini lag (lasted half a second) while playing for 30 minutes, and those where when coming out of the savehouse. No lags while driving full spreed through the city, chased by cops. only some trees and stuff popped up late sometimes but thats all.
poncratias
maybe it's the pagefile settings? edit: oh, and I defragmented my drive before i installed GTA, maybe that's something....
