Vagabond251
I know a patch is in the works as they say on the site but they don't specify what the patch will fix. How likely is it that they will re-optimize the game? Is that even possible with a patch?
NIPSEN
Everything is possible, but for the first patch i think they'll fix easier problems and blocker problems like social club...
Vagabond251
Darn. Well one can always hope.
reassor
i hope they will allow to use system memory for graphics (i got 320 and its killing me )
Vicetopia
Maybe they should remove all the annoying protection since pirates already cracked it. I find most of it annoying and some of it could be hurting performance.
Death_Blade
i hope they will allow to use system memory for graphics (i got 320 and its killing me ) Im with you there. 320mb on my vid card and its barely running the game. Trying to upgrade to a GTX260 core 216 atm.
PestilenceJM
Maybe they should remove all the annoying protection since pirates already cracked it.I find most of it annoying and some of it could be hurting performance. This is defenately not gonna happen. Social club and LIVE works fine for me now, and for many others aswell. I just hope they release a general patch to solve that "MMA10" error with Social Club. arewenotmen
I expect them to eventually fix the performance issues for the cards that are performing worse than realistically expected - i.e. the cases where newer cards like the 280 perform worse than an 8800. That will be their focus as it'll destroy future sales & reputation. There's a smaller possibility everyone else will see some performance upgrades as a result, but don't count on it. Non-engine bugs like the MMA10 should be fixed soon, and maybe some changes to the way all that stuff works. Other minor gameplay bugs? I guess they might get fixed, but they don't have a brilliant track record with this stuff.
Ron Taboga
They must patch the crashes and the awful performance with ATI cards.
Rockstar1
I expect them to eventually fix the performance issues for the cards that are performing worse than realistically expected - i.e. the cases where newer cards like the 280 perform worse than an 8800. That will be their focus as it'll destroy future sales & reputation. Any case where a 280 is performing worse than an 8800 is most likely due to CPU. Someone did a comparison, there was almost no difference between those two cards. An 8800 with a quad core runs this game better than a GTX280 system with a dual core. This game is all CPU. I don't think patches will do crap for optimization. The most we can hope for is bug fixing, and maybe AA support.
Vagabond251
Well I have an 8800 320MB and a dual core but requiring a Quad-Core for minimal performance is RIDICULOUS I think. The game is unplayable at ANY settings for me. Frame rate doesn't change no matter what settings are on.
PolarisX
A priority would be fixing the memory leak, thats whats plaguing most of us who are able to play the game.
Vagabond251
What's the memory leak? Is that what is REALLY the source of performance issues?
slowrider
What's the memory leak? Is that what is REALLY the source of performance issues? the memory leak is where something in the program causes system resources to be drained until there isn't any left, at which point some critcal frame lag or other side-effect occurs. the lags don't occur initially, but when they strike they happen with high frequency. it's the only thing ruining my experience of the game, so i hope it's prioritised above everything else for now. rud
not to mention the box says 1.8 ghz dual core. It's not hard to see what's wrong with that when many with 2.4ghz quad cores are having a hard time running it. What the hell did they mean by minimum requirements anyways? The game won't immediately kick you out and shoot your dog if you have more than a 1.8 ghz but for actually playing the game, ooooh noooo you silly consumer, you need an i7 for that. Maybe they accidentally used the requirements from the social club program and forgot to mention the game itself is really from 2011 and as such isn't yet ready to run on today's hardware. Wheelman
How likely is it that they will re-optimize the game? Is that even possible with a patch? Yes, it should be possible. I wouldn't be surprised if, in a month or two, a patch from Rockstar and the latest driver releases from nVidia and ATi produce a respectable increase in performance. However the top priority would most likely be, imho, addressing the reports and complaints of instability. Anything else, like better performance or more eye candy or AA, is just a bonus really. requiring a Quad-Core for minimal performance is RIDICULOUS I think I think it's quite understandable when you consider it was originally written for consoles which also have many cores - 3 for the XBox and 1+6 for the PS3. Zera
I wouldn't put much faith in a possible patch. Rockstar pretty much abandoned San Andreas PC gamers, the community had to fix most of the game's problems by themselves.
Turdist
If they dont patch it and patch it PROPER, I'm mailing the box with the dvds in to them, only SMOTHERED is sh*t and blood. And I'll get the blood from an AIDS patient, and the sh*t from a person with worms in thier gut....

Not when even a low-end C2D is more powerful than the console`s CPU. It-s all down to architecture. Take Pentium D for example, they have 2 cores, yet they suck major ass. I read in a forum somewhere that each XBOX360 CPU core was weaker then a Athlon 64 3000+. So yeah, even a lower-end X2 or C2D, or even a Pentium D, would kick it in the nuts performance wise
