deathshadow
First off, I just need to say that console games mean jack **** to me. I find the controls next to useless and one of the whole reasons I wait for PC releases is to use the GOOD controls of a mouse, real joystick and keyboard. So naturally the inablity to configure anything but one of those stupid xBox 360 controllers does nothing but torque my nuts. (doesn't even recognize the game pad I do have, much less my Thrustmaster wheel!) You add to this the overall experience of the game - being tortured during the introduction and cutscenes by an amaturish 1990 style midi composition that sounds like it was recorded on an MT-32, the lack of anti-aliasing on the cutscene movies making it shimmer like some crap 1995 3D0 game, giving me the 'shaky cam' error on a LEGITIMATE copy of the game making me end up using the hack and disconnecting the online connection just to even get to gameplay.... (malfing Suckurom). It is a piss poor console port, and far below what I've come to expect out of Rockstar and the GTA series. (Though I should have seen this coming with the pile of rubbish PC port of Bully) They should be embarrassed to have released this crap to the public. I'm really dissapointed as I was really looking forward to this game. Needless to say it's going back to the store right now, I'll probably swap it for Fallout 3. Oh well, put a fork in it, for PC gamers this franchise is done. I've not been this dissapointed in a game from one of my favorite franchises since the steaming pile of dung known as Thief: Deadly Shadows (which also suffered greatly from consolitus)... Congratulations Rockstar, you've pissed off someone who's been a fan of GTA since the original top play version and owned every PC version. Malik
r* is all about the dollar and they see the PC gamers as their biggest/most supportive fanbase so ofcourse they go and rob us with a pathetic port The jokes on us
un om bun
It really is a miserable pile of garbage. A beta, to put it nicely. Someone is responsible for this mess and I very much hope they'll be made to pay for their arrogance. Maybe the people who ported it are incompetent. Maybe they were given an unrealistic deadline. In any case, some greedy f*cker(s) made an idiotic and irresponsible decision. I want to see him/them crucified. Cause that's about the only satisfaction I can still get. No amount of patching will make this game work like it's supposed to. Oh and next time, Cockstar, kindly keep your turds on the consoles where they belong. deathshadow
Wow, I just got a clean install to work without the shaky cam without the crack... Turns out it doesn't like multiple display systems. Apparantly if you have more than one display active it trips the shaky cam code even on a legitimate copy of the game. Wonder if mousejail would fix it as well... (since older GTA's I have to run mousejail on as well)

Hmmm, I have dual monitors connected to an ATI 4870 based card (8.11 drivers) and no problems with the wobbly camera. Maybe it also depends on the drivers / video-card you use, or something else coincidental?
un om bun
It looks like when different conditions are met, the game thinks it's pirated and triggers the drunken effect. Aren't we just lucky to participate in this fascinating new anti-pirating experiment ?
deathshadow
Hmmm, I have dual monitors connected to an ATI 4870 based card (8.11 drivers) and no problems with the wobbly camera. Maybe it also depends on the drivers / video-card you use, or something else coincidental? I've got a 8800GTS for my primary display here, on which I run my games, my other two displays are driven by a cheap little 8400GS. If I disable the secondary display adapter it works. Only reason I tried that was I had the exact same problem with the 'fader' effects in "Darkstar One", with the same solution - though that was back when I had a 7600GT as my primary and a Radeon 9250 PCI as my secondary. Not that it matters, it's going back today... GameStop gets to refund this pile of crap - or I get to trash their store... either way it should be fun. Makes me wish I'd bought it through Steam since they ARE offering refunds.

As true as this as (Minus the console bashing), I doubt R* would give a sh*t even if they were slapped in the face with what you posted. I mean, after all, you did buy the LEGIT copy after all, so for them, it's a sale, regardless. I am gald a friend of mines showed me it on his PC, because that stopped me from walking into my local Gamestop and getting myself a copy. I will just stick to my better functioned PS3 version of the game. I have to laugh a bit at this situation. I mean, a lot of people on here were all like "Oh yeah the PC version is going to kicked major ass! Me wantz teh jelly donuts!!" And now, it's proven to be a huge dssapointment. Ah well.
