No Audio or Subtitles During Some Cut Scenes

Ok... So I can't log into multiplayer because of a code 0X800705b4 on games windows live. Anyone know what that is, my google search turned up something related to a Vista beta but it didnt make much sense. Anyway on to the audio issue.

 

So I give up on Mulitplayer and decide to play single player. Now I wish I never purchased this game. It seems that certain missions cutscenes, and phone conversations have no audio. For instance during the Bull in a china shop mission I can not hear anything Niko is saying to the man in the China shop, he just stands at the window like a stalker. I skip through the cutscene and figure out how to complete the mission.

 

Then some of my phone calls with Roman Vlad and all of Michelles are totally silent, the only thing I can do is hang up the phone. I have no idea if I agreed to pick one of them up for a drive across town or to an evening of unspeakable sex acts because the entire phone conversation is dead air.

 

I can still date Michelle but she doesn't talk to me at all, when i take her home i get two options, say good bye or try your luck. If i try my luck the camera cuts in to Niko motioning that hes trying to sweet talk her and shes a little hesitant, then the game just stays stuck in this sequence, its not a total freeze, its just that nothing I do will break the sequence, there are no dialouge choices so i end up having to load a saved game or exiting the game.

 

This is very annoying. I can't play mulitplayer and now I'm partially deaf to the cut scenes. Has anyone experienced this too? Any fixes? Heres my setup

 

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU X6800 @ 2.93GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.9GHz

Memory: 2046MB RAM

DirectX Version: DirectX 10

 

Video

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX Driver Version: 7.15.0011.7813

 

Audio

Creative SB X-Fi Driver Version: 6.00.0001.1284

 

Using headphones,

After the problem I tried stereo and headphone audio settings

 

In Soundblaster settings I turned on and off EAX and any other extras.

 

Any help that can be provided is appreciated. Thank you.

The radio works perfectly fine. When I get a call on the phone it will even lower the sound of the music no matter what kind of call it is( silent vs one I can Hear)

I would really like to know if there is a fix for this in-game sound issue.

None of my cell phone conversations are audible.

Basically the same probs as AK47man, silent in-game voices!!!

This is driving me batty. Hopefully someone out there finds a fix and posts!!

BTW Radio works fine, is just voices in-game are dead silent.......

Im in the same situation as you 2. Brought the game today and was really excited, took far too long to install, was overly complicated. When i finally get the game going i get a fps of about 30, with the graphics on medium, on a 19" widescreen 1440x900 resolution, 8800GT, Dual Core 2.66ghz 2gb ram. Then bearing with the lag i get to the opening mission where you take roman to the hardware store and i cant hear anything on the phone or whne he is talking to me. This is really frustrating and all i want to do is play the frigging game. Does anyone have any solutions or know of a patch coming out for the game? Please help! =]
