PS3/xbox rules suggestion by AndySerb:

GTAF:GT 2008 - IV:MP

When and where?

Duration : Dec 4 - Dec 9(PS3), Dec 12 - Dec 17(360)

Location : Two legged matches, each hosted by the battling gangs member

Rules

  • Tournament starts on Dec 4th 2008, at 00:00 hrs GMT.
  • Gangs will be randomly matched.
  • A team size is set, and each gang picks team members. Team members can vary from game-to-game.
  • Minimum team size is 4, and maximum is 10.
  • Referee (Optional) : If the contesting clans feel that the game will not go smoothly, they can request a responsible member of the forums to moderate the game. This person, the referee, needs to be unbaised.
  • Each game may not exceed 30 minutes.
  • The game goes on until the objective has been reached or until the time exceeds the limit, whichever occurs earlier.
  • The outcome of the game depends upon the best of three rounds.
  • Scores from the games will be noted.
  • The gang with the highest score on 00:00 hrs on 9(17) Dec 2008 wins.
In-game Rules
  • All players are to respect the decisions taken by the referee.
  • Anyone leaving the game before its end will not be allowed to join again. We will reconsider in case of connectivity problems such as timeouts.
  • Players other than the competing ones, referee and admins will not be allowed to join the game.
  • No Mic's allowed.

The Referee

The referee (optional) is quite important, and can change the outcome of a game. Choose your referee wisely. The following are the responsibilities of a referee:

  • Supervise the game in an unbiased manner.
  • Spectate players.
  • If the competing clans decide to have a referee, only the referee can report the outcome of the game. Else, the Leader/Underboss of any one of the competing clans can report.
Scoring
  • Whenever a gang wins a game, it gains 1 point on the leader board.
  • In case of a tie, both gangs gain 1 point.
  • If a gang is found to have cheated (Players using hacks, exploiting loopholes in the gamemode, etc.), it will be disqualified from the event.
  • At the end of the tournament, if more than single gang has the top score, then tie-breaking games will be held.
  • Since it's a two-legged competition, winning in both legs gets you 2 points, winning in each forces a third match!
Gamemodes

The following gamemodes are available for the clans to compete. We've decided to keep away from plain deathmatch modes, as players' pings vary. This is an unfair situation.

Team Deathmatch Players work as a team to rub out other team(s) for money - and the crew with the most cash at the end of the round wins. There's no restrictions - do whatever it takes to rub out the competition.
Team Mafiya Work You're a member of a crew doing contract work for the mafiya - including such plum gigs as escorting wanted men, picking up MacGuffins and stealing cars. Work as a team to complete contracts before the time period ends and get the rewards. You'll probably want to do your best to scupper the other crew's work as well. Each contract you complete gives your team cash, and the crew with the most cash at the end of the round wins..
Team Car Jack City Cars spawn parked around the map and the teams must steal them and take them to a drop off point. The cash teams get for dropping off stolen vehicles depends on their condition - teams get less cash the more damaged they are. The exception to this are special bonus cars, stuffed with drugs, which give a set amount of cash on delivery no matter how damaged they are. Your crew has to get hold of whatever vehicles the boss wants. Whichever crew makes the most money wins
Turf Wars A timed capture-the-base mode. There are a number of bases around the map that you have to take by standing on them for a short period of time. The more players that are on a base, the faster it can be captured. The more bases that your team owns, the faster your team's cash score increases. If the rival gang is on or near a base, you won't be able to take control of it - so do what you can to try and ... displace them. The team with the most cash at the end of the round wins.
Gta Race Similar to the orthodox Race, but with the added element of combat. Race and fight your way through the checkpoints in order and then hit the finish, but this time you can also pick up the weapons spawned en route to help take out your opponents. You can also exit the vehicle during the road races.

So what are you waiting for? Wear your clan tag with pride, and prove that you're the best!

The above info is subject to change over time.

huh? That's quite contradictory.

..copypasta :p

Yeah, good job, looks good overall, but it could be a bitch to change the dates. I suppose this would encourage cross-platform participation. icon14.gif

Participants, please note the final dates:

Dec 4 - Dec 9 (PS3)

Dec 12 - Dec 17(360)

We're sorry for the inconvenience again, please use these dates while submitting the players' preferred dates and times.

The change has been reflected here.

i suggest mics be allowed. on xbox, nobody plays without one. not sure why they'd be disallowed. communication is key.

I agree that mics should be allowed, if you aint got one then its to your own disadvantage.

I reckon if you get dc'd from the game you should be allowed to be invited back in, if your team invites you that is. Maybe they could be allowed a substitute player incase of connection issues where said player received the kicked msg after disconnection.

I also think to keep game time down, matches should be 20mins for TDM, TW, TMW, TCJC.

Perhaps also allowing more players per team, so that all their players could get a chance to play. Seems abit unfair to large clans with over 10players.

Good job though.

They are not the final rules of this tournament. They are subject to change, suggestions for improvement are most welcome.

I'd say its the same as the SA:MP dates. Anyway, that's upto Fell, he's in-charge the VC:MP games.

Anyone know any good (dedicated) servers for hosting the SA:MP games? Even better if you know the server admin. Thanks, any help with regards to this is much appreciated.

A few more suggestions for the PS3/360 thing.

For the pings thing..well most if not all modes include some sort of shooting, so pings can't do much here or there. It's just luck how you start it. The same on SA:MP. It doesn't mean players can keep a stable ping below 350 all the time.

As for mic's i didn't know how much people have one so that's why i said it's better without mics. I though it would be stupid that one gang players have mic, and the remaining ones do not have.

As for the lenght of the matches... i'd recommend UNDER or 15 minutes, and not more then that.

Also another thing...if you get disconnected/timed out on PC, i suggest you are allowed to get back in game, and that server admin edits your score to like it was before the timneout.

The PS3 timeout's can be tricky, as other players cant know can't know did you quit, or timeout...

So i suggest, that when you timeout, you shout in this very topic that you timed out, just so it can be recorded.

Time Out issue on the PS3 can be a pretty tricky thing to discuss abut...imagine the match host to timeout at the very end of the match... Or maybe 2 timeout's of players in one team, and they had the most score, but their timeout caused the score to go the other way...

Don't really know how to solve the timeout thing...since it occurs often.

If people don;t have mics its their own fault for not buying or using one.

Good points about the time outs/dc's. We had a few issues with it in the DTW Cup. There was one match I remember that 3 players got dc'd. Some people had a frantic time trying to reinvite them whilst still trying to play.

Also if you get disconnected you should be aloud to be invited back to the game.

Ooh, don't say that. Why, have you got a bad connection?

Don't Jinx it mercie_blink.gif .

Yes, but how are they going to recover their score then?

The only way in case of timeout's would be a re-match!

Well, why would we have to recover the scores? In TDM it's by money? not kills.. so even if so and so got disconnected but still have kills before it the money would still be in the team total when they come back.. You can just say

I'm gonna go over game types. I think a TD, TW and then a match randomly selected (this will make it more interesting 'cause you can't prepare for it)

As from the suggestions on AndySerb's rules, I've gathered Mic's should be allowed, but as for reconnecting the score could still be a bitch to maintain.

We'll see how it goes.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure it does in the overall, just your individual scores will be lost.

Cheers BowZa, added.

People, we still need a good server for SA:MP. I've decided to go by Fell's idea, looking for a quiet server that we can play on. If you've ever come across a quiet server with a friendly admin, please let us know.

Well, the only thing i can suggest for SA:MP is twitchy's and Berkley's server. All the others i know and play on are official and always have loads of people on

On these two servers, there are race scripts and turf wars scripts as well as the regular one's such as Area 51,etc

We can maybe use Berkley's then for those modes or twitchy's for Race, if you guys can't find anything else.
