dog_day_sunrise
As the description says, best possible CPU solution for under £100. Currently running an AMD X2 Athlon 5000+ Black edition on an AM2 socket Asus M2N32 motherboard, with 2gb Kingston DDR2 800+ and an OC'd Gainward 8800GTX. Ideally want to stay AMD so I don't need to change motherboards. Phenom X3 8750 has taken my fancy. Anyone run it?
Wolf68k
If your mobo supports it and you really need it so you can play GTAIV better, then ok. Other wise save your money. The 3 core AMDs are just the 4 cores where one care is bad and turned off.

But I have extra RAM on order and my motherboard will take AM2+ socket processors and I know that my processor is the weak point in my system. I would go quad-core if they weren't so prohibitively expensive still- the only component I'm willing to pay over £100 for is a GPU.

Wolf68k
If the game will play with what you have then be happy, even if you can't run the highest settings. Personally I would rather wait until I could get a quad core and be happier with that in the long run. The way things are going I would end up regret getting that 3core quickly because while games still aren't really using 2 cores but they are recommending quad cores. Saggy
If you want a new processor, this is a pretty good deal. Athlon X2 6000+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103773 I think it is free with a game too; buy a $50-$60 game, and get a $76 processor. Otherwise, you might just want to try overclocking your current CPU. The thing about triple and quad cores is that most games don't even utilize more than two now.
