SuperAlekZ
Yes, I had this also. Just click on the button in the middle. In English it is "Repeat" or something. Then the Setup will demand the first DVD and then the second one. So it will repeat installing this file. It works 100%. Would make me happy, if I helped you

Please insert disc 2 that contains the file data3.cab. Path: browse/cance/ok ... i go to data3.cab hit ok and pops up Setup could not find a file on specifiedpath of disk. Please check that proper disk is inserted or specify a new path. [email protected]
The only thing I can suggest is: 1) Try to make an image of this dvd using a suitable applicaiton (Alcohol 120% for instance). 2) Mount this DVD image in a dvd emulator, alcohol 120% has this (otherwise use Deamon Tools). 3) Try to give the image dvd to the installer, see what it says about that one. I do not know what this would actually fix, though if the dvd was actually faulty you could not create an image out of it without getting read errors. I can only imagine this being because of some messed up copy protection and perhaps you could get lucky with this image thing. Please note that the software I suggested you to use in this post are most likely both hated by SecuROM and you'd probably have to uninstall them before the game agrees to run on your system. rapboy778
Thank you!I mounted the image in Alcohol as you said and it worked .Don't know why if i mounted the image into Daemon Tools didn't worked but worked with Alcohol so problem solved thanks again
Irrati0nal
CRC errors right? i kept getting same, it doesn't really matter if you click ignore but it may cause problems ingame just cvaries where, you get new CRC errors each time.
rapboy778
Btw i wanna confirm that GTA IV will run on a Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit.For all those who has this os installed and the install don't start because it says incompatible with os those need to get this : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyo...&displayLang=en (its over 400mb but after installing this the GTA IV setup won't say os incompatible).I'm thinking about installing directx 10 but will i have more fps ingame? [email protected]
This is a DX9 game, so no, as far as I know, installing DX10 will change nothing. Though, I remember reading about someone finding DX10 shaders in the game files. Now, just doing the math here suggests: 1) DX10 files in the game data. 2) Twice the size of the console versions. Equals optional DX10 engine update patch in the future? ...or then I'm just optimistic.
rapboy778
I read about directx 10 and microsoft claims that you get more frames ... im confused now i just want gta iv to run better i have Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS 512MB GDDR2, 2 Gb DDR2 and AMD Turion x2 2Ghz and even tough im using only 280/498MB the game dont run smooth i dono what 2 do 2 use more video memory(i think its from vista but i started updating everything and still the same)
[email protected]
GTA IV is not a DirectX 10 game so it would not gain anything from it. Though like I said someone reported there being dx10 shaders in the game data, and the game itself is 2 times bigger than the xbox/ps3 version. There is a good chance we have some directx10 content here that just waits for an engine update. Something tells me this is very optimistic though. Edit: according to what I have seen here so far, I'd say this about your current setup: nVidia GeForce 8600M GS 512MB: People insist on playing on laptops, I say this is doomed to fail. You have enough memory for running on Low/Medium. 1536MB seems to be the current magic number for running on High. 2048Mb DDR2: If this is any slower than 800Mhz you need to upgrade this. This may also be barely enough for the game and I'd suggest 4GB or more. This ensures that the game gets to keep the whole 2GB for itself. Also note that on 32bit systems 4GB is max, and from this 4GB we reduce, among other things, video memory. Meaning in your case you'd only get around 3.5GB. AMD Turion x2 2Ghz: You need a quad core, minimum 3Ghz. Intel is the only one that comes close to this, they cost 500€ or more. Those are the settings I believe should be able to run this game on all high at a decent framerate. I have no real proof though, everything is just a mess at the moment. Some people claim to play this game on dual or single cores better than people with quad cores. Some play with AGP cards while other with quad sli's can't even go above 8fps (take our beloved Rockstar Toronto guy as an example). It's russian roulette, only the gun has 7 bullets out of 8 . rapboy778
I will update my ram memory because it supports up to 4 gb and its true you can run gta iv with a single core my desktop has amd athlon 3500+ and it has enough power to run the game and i dont expect the laptop to run at high i was thinking about a decent medium but i dont get even the low at a decent level

mkey82
Insert the game disks into your DVD drive and copy all files to some HDD folder and try installing from there.
sjaak327
If you're having CRC errors, then nothing will work, the disc is damaged (even though it might not visbily be). Rockstar certainly seems to have a habit of shopping at cheap dvd'r us for their media. I have a sh*tload of DVD's and only two have CRC errors, (GTA-Sa and GTAÏV funny that). Try to get it replaced by going through Rockstar customer support would be your best bet. Or torrent the damaged disc.

mkey82
If it shows you this error it means it can not read the game disks properly. So you'll either have to try copying both disk contents to HDD and install from there or get new disks if yours are damaged. You can also try using another drive.
