livinglogic
Hey guys, After days of digging for a fix to my lack of textures, I finally found a combination that worked for me. For those of you that can't get the textures up and running (aka, can't see for more than 2 feet in front of your character), try the following: Start by reading the first post here: fflagunahttp://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=378702 **I know this is old news, before you start trolling me let me explain what I did that was different and worked for me, seeing as FFLaguna's fix alone didn't do it for me.** Now that you've read his steps, add what I've done below to the process. A) In the safe mode step (step 4) where you have to use driversweeper, I clicked on both ATI and Nvidia drivers to be 'cleared', and not just Nvidia. This might not have done anything, but I want to be as specific as possible. B) I went to the following website, http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index....showtopic=21837, and I downloaded the Nvidia drivers provided. The version I used is 180.48, and because I'm running a Go version of the 7900 GS I also had to download the modded 'inf' file that's available with it. So this is what I did, Step 1 - Download the driver to your desktop, decompress it, leaving a folder with the update driver installation files on your desktop. Step 2 - Download the "modded Inf." file to your desktop (as provided on the same page that the driver was available on). Step 3 - Replace the inf. file in the folder with the one you downloaded to your desktop, replacing completely. Step 4 - Install the driver normally. You will reboot with your new drivers installed. C) Go here: Riva Tunerhttp://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTuner-v2.20-download-163.html Step 1 - Download Riva Tuner, Install it. Step 2 - Run Riva Tuner, and in the 'Main' tab, where it says "Forceware Detected", click on the arrow on the right side of the box and then on the last icon on the right, it looks like a broom, 'reset all the driver's settings back to normal' Step 3 - Reboot D) Start up GTA IV from the GTA IV game icon in your start folder... and hopefully you'll luck out and actually get to play this 'potentially' excellent game. If you're like me, your only problem now is trying to enjoy a game that runs like crap, despite having all the graphic settings set to low, on a PC that you know damn well could play this game much, much better. *************** Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who came together to try and work out this problem (amongst others). It's pretty amazing that the way I fixed this problem was from a combination of attempts by others, as well as my own experimentation, as opposed to it having come from Rockstar or Taketwo themselves. I wouldn't have been able to work through this if it hadn't been for everyone contributing, and am impressed by all your determination. Now, here's hoping that Rockstar can make this game run smoother with some fixes. Cheers, nk Edited December 5, 2008 by livinglogic
