velfaires
- I'm playing Farcry with ultra high settings and max AA/AF ! - I'm playing Crisis on highest settings and AA/AF ! - I can have more than 2,500 people riding more than 100 coasters + shopping/viewing/swimming in my ginormous park in RCT3 ! It doesn't get anymore CPU intensive than handling this amount of triggers simultaneously ! - I fight massive wars with huge armies and all details maxed out in Medieval II ! - And I can't even play this game for more than 5 minutes! I waited all this time for GTA IV and wasted my dough on a game that doesn't even let me FCKING drive down the street before lagging to death/crashing ! And I have a GTX 260 ! ! ! O_O Specs: - A8N32-SLI Deluxe - X2 4200 - 2GB Corsair DDR 433 PC3500 - GTX 260 - XFI Audigy - Oh yeah - The game & Windows are running on my Raptor Drive ! I know my processor is slightly dated but WTF no games today can seriously claim to require more than the above setup at this point in time. My rig eats the PS3 alive. I'm not updating crap until new AM3 comes out and GTAIV is complete garbage for not running at these specs ! I want a REFUND !

So, you think Rockstar owes you money because you believe that the game should work flawlessly on your specs, even though Rockstar have to get it to work to countless different specs? If you are really that pissed off, go buy it on 360 or PS3. Or, be patient. Honestly, stop whining and bitching and just be patient. Nothing can be resolved over night. Besides, perhaps it is because of your processor. Or maybe your graphics card isn't compatible. Have you updated all your drivers to the newest ones? Have you thought for one minute that perhaps the problem isn't the game, but your set up? Are you truly confident that even though your specs run those other games, that they are capable of handling GTAIV? Also, calm down. Go update every driver. Uninstall GTAIV and reinstall it. velfaires
All of my drivers are updated:Sound, Video, Windows SP3 (XP), .net 3.5, directX...etc. I'm frustrated because there is no reason it shouldn't work and it is super laggy even on medium settings with virtually no drawing distance. What gives ? ? ?

I'm getting just a little tired of people who try to defend rockstar. There really is no excuse for the amount of failure that has occurred here. When a company releases a game, sure theres bugs but it should run atleast on most rigs. This game doesnt run on anything but a supercomputer which is absolute rubbish. The OP makes a good point and i hear him. I seriously consider you try solving some jigsaw puzzles to up your IQ a bit. Anyone with his specs or higher deserve to complain.Theres no reason why this game shouldnt run on most of our computers.Crysis ran fine on my pc, so did bioshock, fallout 3, COD5 so on... Lord Illicious
At first i thought this was a joke or something but users from all over are reporting such nasty problems with the PC version. I have the PS3 version but would like to try the PC version. Now i dont know if i should even bother. Here's the REQ.: Minimum System Requirements * OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3 * Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz * Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space * Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900 Recommended System Requirements * OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3 * Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz * Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista) * 18 GB Free Hard Drive Space * Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870 Recommended system requirements looks very steep but i have a much powerful system i built: Intel Core 2 Extreme x9650 Quad 3.0ghz 2 Graphic cards NVDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1GB each 8GB Ram DDR2 Windows Vista 64 I read some users with specs similar to mine reporting the same issues. velfaires
Your video cards are pretty horrible in comparison to the latest (the 8800 is blazing fast in comparison and my GTX260 packs far more power in less space...) but the rest of your rig is good. The ram is super overkill. As a matter of fact, you wouldn't be able to show anyone a time when your system eats more than 4GB unless you're editing movies, running 3D filters in photoshop and playing 2 games all AT THE SAME TIME. DOOFUS. Should've waited a month to upgrade too - your technology becomes yesterday's news come January (new mobo/cpu architecture coming out), and the price of all those parts will be a fraction of what you paid for them by February... Dude. I put this system together in september. Before that i had a dell 2ghz pissa sh*t. I just learned how to build these things and went for some fairly cheap parts. You cant always say "dont buy now and wait a few months" cus first of all these things are upgradable and since technology is always moving then when would be the time to invest? Wait a month and then what about the other montns ahead? Im still not finished with this system. Just finished upgrading the mobo to a ASUS Maximus II Formula LGA 775, Zalman 9770 fan and new 750 watt power supply. Waiting for a grafic card upgrade and a ram stick repair (now just 6gb ddr2 1066), possibly a faster DDR2 speed ram sticks or DDR3. Also, hooked up with all led fans, power supply, sound cathodes, led ram strips ect ect. Old parts like the graphic cards, ddr2 ram, mobo ect ect ill use to dell rebuild my winxp pro in a new case. As for all that ram, yes i do very heavy work in video (authoring and compilation service), audio, graphics, applications, ect ect very intensive hardware/software usage. This is what i do with my PC. Never played games on here but with such power i figured why not try gta4. No need to be so harsh cus in what i get in february could cost a fraction in august. wnkinc
Rock star dont owe me no money, if it doesn't work as the minimal specs what i read told me. Game stop owes me the money for selling me a product that wasn't ready! I didnt just go off and run and buy this game when it was released, im sure game stop knew it had problems 24hrs later after it was released. it was their responsibility that the product they were selling didn't work? as they advertised. ready to be played, and my specs are up to PAR. Unlike most people, ya its aggravating, this things happens, people who yell at rockstar are probably developers rock star didnt hire. i can be patient, once this is fixed. for little guys like me and its running, GTA is going to have a whole new world. totally better then any XBOX game version. their working on it, i talked to them!, im a noob, im sitting her 20hrs straight now trying to figure out something, and all i can do is post in forums. with hopes. but i know i seen rock star work before, their not scums. their the only developers who had the balls to put up a game like this. the first GTA online game, really wonderful things can happen from this game if it is respected!
