LulzChicken
Good question, some people are seeing performance increases... I want ours to update!
Knyte
More than likely R*SC will have an anouncement and link on the splash page when you first start the game. It looks like paul.dll and installscript.vdf were the only things updated, which means it just fixes the activation and maybe the R*SC MMA10 problem. Zav_
On wednesday i had rockstar social club ask me to download some sort of update.I dont know what that was related to, it was only 30 mb so i doubt it helped gtaiv
D3lta
It seems the update is really small, so I don't know how much of an effect it can have on performance.
McDodge34
The update you get with the retail is only a new version of GFWL that screw some things up (can't save graphic settings at all after this update)
mkey82
It seems the update is really small, so I don't know how much of an effect it can have on performance. A proper update (*working* exe) would be below 10 MB probably.

Nothing to do with performance. It's there so you can go online and save your game. It's compulsory for everybody.
Knyte
And, an offical "PATCH" would probably be 500+ Megs, as it would have to patch many of the core engine files.
catzilla
If it's a patch, then they don't need to resend the actual files. Just patches, which are kilobytes in size.
