bwtodd
I am not going to go into detail about disappointed i am with rockstar for another really poor port of a GTA game. i am just going to post my findings reguarding the RESC10 error i was experiancing. I found in some other posts about performance issues that turning off the video clip capture in the in-game menu and changing the pre-redered frames setting to "1" in nvidia control panel would increase performance. So i did just that and i was just able to play the game for about 3 or more hours straight without error, which was seemingly impossible before i had made these changes. Before doing this i would beable to play with playable frame rates for 15 minutes to an hour if i was lucky and then i would notice the frame rate would drop or wierd things would happen and then finally a crash to desk top with the fatal RESC10 error which would require me to reboot my system. also sometime the game would just lock up and not crash to desktop but i would have to alt-tab and try and get out. So this is not a definite solution, i may have just got lucky this play session. either way these setting changes seem to help if nothing else and hopefully i won't see that error for a long time and hopefully rockstar can start patching this terd port. I mean jesus i can play Crysis just about maxed with a good fps yet a game from a xbox 360 brings my pc to its knees come on. for referance... AMD Athlon dual core 6000+, 4 gigs of ram, Nvidia Geforce GTX 280 I have the RESC 10 before so I try to install an uptodate driver from Nvidia website and it works but the error isn't appear during the game, it was appeared during loading after the few slides of screenshot. It maybe my driver was even older than yours. Before I have fixed this problem, I am using the GeForce 7300GS 256mbyte ram graphics card and dual core 2.0g. I found that my card does not reach the minimum requirement GeForce 7900 so I instead of changing the graphics card I update the driver from the Nvidia website. The error was no longer exists by since my spec is too slow to the game, therefore, I bought a new card and cpu and use the same latest driver. Now my game is working alright and it has been playing for 1 1/2 day. In the game, I even take one of the character Jacob to the strip club and enter the private room. But the girls isn't naked
squbel
I think that I can confirm that your fix actually works! I can't tell for sure which part of it worked for me ( I've set both pre-render frame to 1 and clip capture to off ) and for the first time I was able to play GTA IV for over 60min! No more CTD with nasty RESC10 error!!! Before changing this settings I couldn't play longer than for about 20-30min max. My setup: Vista x64 SP1 C2Q Q9550 4gig RAM GTX 260 Thanx for this fix! bwtodd
I can also say i have played for several more hours without error (at least 6+ hours without error) I can finally have fun playing and not worry when the next crash is coming. I am glad it worked for someone else as well. I also want to say that this game is the best GTA i have played so far, the useless and unrealistic timers for the missions seem to be gone, i freaking love that and the game world is just great to play in. for the game play it self rock star have out done themselves. But as far as optimizing for PC and killing bugs they have failed... "epic fail" as net speak would say... we can only hope patches and new drivers improve performance and allow everyone to play this awesome game. Oh and i also am running under Vista 64 Thanks
