Geuscaulk
I installed the game and got the ol' CRC error: the file E:/blah blah blah doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor. The first time I installed I pressed the ignore button on all the errors (5 or so). Resulted in the game being unable to load. Second time I installed I pressed the retry button on all the errors except for a few. I had to ignore those because I would press the retry button repeatedly but the same window for the same would just keep popping back up. Anyway, this resulted in being able to play the game but it would crash when I got to a certain part taking his brother to go gamble. Just enough to get me salivating on the upcoming fun that I will be having. I did this a few times and it would be different files that got the error but it would always just crash at the same part. -I bought the game brand new from sh*t Stop...oooops I mean Game Stop -I updated the driver/firmware on my CD/DVD drive -Updated all major drivers I know this error means that the file in question is corrupted. The disk is brand new, so I thought either the file is actually corrupted or the optical drive is not working properly. I've installed numerous games on my PC with no problem. Has anyone had this problem?? Does anyone know how to fix it?? Thanks! Oh yea almost forgot, Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6Ghz 2GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Edited December 5, 2008 by Geuscaulk
Geuscaulk
If anyone cares, which it seems they don't, I found the solution. If you have a brand new game, chances are that the files on the disk are corrupted. So, it can only be few things. 1. The IDE or SATA cable is f*cked up 2. The IDE or SATA port on the MoBo is f*cked up 3. The optical drive is f*cked up I tried fixing the error in that order and it seems like the problem was my SATA port on the mobo is f*cked up. I switched it and the game installed fine. However that being said, it could still be #3 and I just got lucky. The optical drive my have read it OK that one time. I guess I'll see next time I install a game. I then played the game for 8 hours straight
