Kekelao
well first off i must say for myself and the rest of us that this game so far was a huge waste of 50$ my computer meets the minimum and recommended hardware. i am currently running. Mainboard : MSI K9N6PGM-F (MS-7309) Chipset : nVidia 6100V Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2000 MHz Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM ) Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT Hard Disk : ST3500320AS (500 GB) DVD-Rom Drive : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D Monitor Type : LG Electronics L1718S - 17 inches Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 DirectX : Version 9.0c (October 2008) i passed the online test with flying colors. can play games such as fallout 3 on pretty much everything set to high. but this is the only game that won't let me change the graphic settings to something at least minimal nor does it run any good even on low settings. this is so far a terrible port and i am very displeased with how much i have to always pay for these "defective" games and wait until these companies release a patch of somesort. yet you look at there console versions and they "usually" run fine. now to be honest. rockstar is a good company. they make awesome titles for the most part. i am just very disappointed on how poorly this game functions and cannot seem to change many settings without the game resetting it to what it thinks is proper for ones computer. hopefully this is addressed soon because i know for a fact my pc should run this with little problems or poor performance. houjie15
Actually they seem not to optimize the game for PC at all. Another fellow says he compared the graphic performance between a P$ and a quad core and there is no noticeable difference... In my PC this thing eat 1.6G memory and all graphic memory only to produce some animation-like lukewarm pictures and destined to crash after a while. Rockstars must use all their resource to try to prevent piracy and did not test the game at all.
Kekelao
tried the new 180.84 nvidia driver recently. then loaded up gta on lowest settings except for screen resolution was at 800x600(75hz) and the game still lags very badly. getting i'd say around 10-20 fps. rockstar is saying in an article on ign i read that they obviously haven't experienced any problems but they are trying there best to get these problems solved. so far all my other games run fine. mass effect, far cry 2, fallout 3, call of duty 4, etc. and most of those games are on medium to very high settings. my pc meets recommendations and requirements. hopefully rockstar can figure out the lag issue. haven't seen a game run this poorly in sometime from what i have been reading most people are experiencing either not being able to play it at all, poor performance on good machines, and texture issues. but to be honest i haven't experienced any problems with textures other than the graphics looking very poor because of the settings being on low. but nothing out of the ordinary. it does seem to run as i stated but who wants to play a game that runs at such low settings and rates. i am personally very angry at the entire issue because i had gotten rid of my ps3 copy and purchased a pc copy only to find out it barely runs at all. rockstar mentioned the patch should be out very shortly so hopefully it will address the lag issues i have been experiencing.
