GTA22
Hey, so because I am hearing murder stories of GTA, and because my computer is quite trashy, im getting a new comp, what should I have in it so that it WILL be able to run GTA IV, no matter what... any suggestions? JBFord4x4
Well the new kit I am building will have 4 gigs of ram, and a Q6700. I would recommend at LEAST a core 2 duo, would be best getting a quad core. Go for a 9800 series card or higher.
CygnusX
When going for the best bang for the buck: E8400 Core 2 Duo / Quad-core equivalent 2x2 (4 total) GB RAM 9800GTX+ / HD4850

extender
C2D E8400 3GHz or 4GHz 8800 GT or Ultra Win XP SP3 4GB of Ram So far I've seen many people running with those specs and they run fine. They can max it out. This guy right here has E8400(although his GPU is HD 4870 1GB)It seems that GTA IV knows how to take advantages of E8400 and 8800GT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w5CQRlO430&feature=related and he runs it fine. TruXter
If the memory is ddr3. then get a ddr3 video card just because a processor will plug into the board and works, does not mean it works well. Check voltage check fsb. if the video card is pci-e 2.0 then make sure the motherboard supports it. it will not, and I repeat will not work better than any pci-e x16 of the same specs. but it will function and work. just fall short of hopes. make sure your memory frequency is compatible with your processor. Meaning just because your mobo maxes at 1200 mhz fsb does not mean you need 1200mhz memory, meanwhile your processor maxes out at 800 mhz. If you ignore these issues, you may stand a chance of creating thread called "I hate you Rockstar you game is buggy" Good Luck, Have Fun
Nulldata
Go for the Intel i7 920 2.66GHz and get you a good heatsneak and fan then overclock that baby to 3.6GHZ

Might that be the problem when I have GDDR3 GPU(G92 PNY 8800GT) but DDR2 RAM(Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 800)? I haven't got my GTA IV copy yet and that scared me now . My CPU has 1333MHz and Voltage 0.85V – 1.3625V. My Mobo FBS is 1600/1333MHz. So it should be fine? I hope that won't start screwing my GTA IV. GTA3Freak-2001
I am fairly sure system RAM and Video Ram are totally independent of each other as far as if they are DDR3 or DDR2 etc.
