gen_staroc Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Hi everyone, after finally getting the game to work on my machine (phew) I noticed that the water looks incredibly bad. The whole surface structure of the little waves that make the water look soo good in screenshots and videos I've seen is missing. Mind you this is not the usual missing texture bug, but the water does look like straight from a game that came out in 2000 or so. Please if anyone knows a solution for fixing this problem, tell me, 'cause I like my water like my women: BEAUTIFUL and curvy/wavy/whatever Here's how it looks like at all times: Oh and it looks worse in motion Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But honestly, aside from framerates that are not on par with what I expected, only THIS DAMN missing Water surface texture/effect is bugging me. The game is great, though I really dissaprove of the choices made with Live and Rockstar accounts being necessary for saving the game and playing online. Plus why, if they use online activation, do I have to keep the disc in the drive?!? Talk about burdening the customer with unnecessary sh*t. Those guys should visit one of my software ergonomics classes at sometime... Hehe, but honestly I'd be really thankful if someon knew the answer to this (minor) issue. I am using the Nvidia 9600M GT with 512 MB on my trusted 2,5 Core 2 Duo Laptop with 4Gigs of Ram. So might it be related to the laptop GPU?!? dienamite Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Same problem here too, glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm using a 8800GTX, Dual Core E6600 and XP. Tried NVIDIA drivers 180.43 and 180.60 - no fix. It's really ruining my game experience, I can deal with the crappy draw and performance, atleast everything used to look ok. Everytime I look at the water, it just turns me off from playing the game. ghettophat Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 I have a ATI 512 mb 1900XT The water GFX is there initially then it goes away to looking like its from gta 3 then if i tab out the game tab back in, the water comes back in full effect but it goes away 30 seconds later looking like gta 3 again WTF i hope this is fixed in the patch! gen_staroc Posted December 6, 2008 Author Share Posted December 6, 2008 Well I tried and installed new drivers for my 9600M GT enabling and disabling PhysX, but the water looks as horrible as ever (if not more so due to added annoyance over investing fruitless work into fixing the problem).
