Cyc2u Posted December 4, 2008 Share Posted December 4, 2008 I dont care to play this online. It isnt letting me start the game unless i play it online. I click the GTA IV icon on my desktop, it brings up a social club login, i pick skip login and click play, it says i need to login to some window live multiplayer thing, i try to get out of that and the game goes to my taskbar. Zach Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 How do you just play single player missions and story? Strictly speaking, you don't have to login to Windows Live! to play. The problem, though, is that you can't save your game because Rockstar in their infinite wisdom decided to save your games in a directory specifically tied your Windows Live! account. So without being logged in, it doesn't know what directory to save them to. Dumb, I know. (I'm sure they got a hefty check from Microsoft for doing this, too. ) So just bite the bullet and create a Windows Live! account. To clear it up for you, you are NOT playing online just by signing in, and your savegames are being saved locally, not some evil master Microsoft server somewhere. bodkinhead Posted December 5, 2008 Share Posted December 5, 2008 The only logging in you have to do is when you register the game after that you don't have to log in at all if you don't want to. Start a new game with net connection disabled (not sure if you have to but I did and it worked) when it says the message about "you won't be able to save unless you log in" say ok to login. When the GFWL screen comes up choose the create new account option. Then choose the option 'offline account' give yourself a name and away you go.
