Ernie4Bert
In the GTA series, males always get the lead role. They could play on that fact. Maybe have a cutscene at the start, of a woman in a gang. She's treated like crap (Because she's female) by the other gang members. She never gets to do anything. She never gets to kill because she's not "strong" enough since she's a woman. Eventually she snaps, brutally murdering everyone in her gang. People higher up in the chain are out to get her now, but she doesn't care - She's insane. It'd be cool to play as her. An insane blood hungry ex-gang member, default weapon? The chainsaw. What do you think? Yes? No? It's a pretty big change for the GTA series, but maybe this series needs a change?
[SM]CJZera
The thing is most players are male, and most of them would prefere a male guy, so if they make a female char there should be two characters, optional which one to play, because then people will complain (again) about how much it sucks, like the so-wanted car washes when implemented in IV
FiliGTAFan
CJZera' date='Dec 5 2008, 00:01'] The thing is most players are male, and most of them would prefere a male guy, so if they make a female char there should be two characters, optional which one to play, because then people will complain (again) about how much it sucks, like the so-wanted car washes when implemented in IV That is probably true. They should focus on male main characters because there are mostly male players. If they ever thought about making a GTA with a female protagonist then maybe it would be a GTA Stories game or something and not a next gen game. Or they could just add optional male or female protagonists like CJZera said. The car washes are pretty cool though cause it's great to see a dirty car come out really clean and shiny. sam33
Crime is mainly a male oriented thing. I'm not saying their's no female criminal offences but normaly females are in all female gangs than mixed into male oriented gangs. That's why i hated SR, it had asians, africans and cacausians of both sex mixed together, it just didn't seem real. Yes gangs may work together but gangs are often seperated by race and sex. I think you'll find the numbers are similar to GTA. But I suppose it attracts different kinds of males... oh heh.
Ret-RAT
Maybe a choice between two characters stories, a male and female would be cool, their storylines intersect with each other, like the Getaway (good storyline, S**thouse gameplay and graphics). each are completely different characters no similarites. 28RedEyedCrows
Following a couple of the other replies here, I'd like to have a female lead as an option, maybe through a create-a-character, (or as Ret-RAT said, through an intersecting story) 'cause I found that games I played that give you a choice, I often choose the female as a detour and not to play seriously. That's exactly because of the reason [sM]CJZera stated. I want to feel like I'm part of the game/relate to the character. It's also cause a female can feel completely wrong in certain scenarios. There have been a few instances where I really enjoy a chosen/forced female lead, but that's very rare. Most of the time when I find it cool is in survival horror games where about anybody from an old farmer to a hotty model can work, such as in the Resident Evil: Outbreak games or Silent Hill, but when it comes to fighters/crime games/etc., it makes a big difference whether you're forced to fight with Rhona Mitra or Keira Knightley. If you don't get the character right, (or do something stupid like have a Keira character do a backflip before breaking someone's neck with her toe) then it's a big turn off. Developers normally try to make them too 'hot' (slim and busty) and too strong, making them unbelievable. To counter that, in Left 4 Dead, I really like playing as the girl in that game. She looks good, but real at the same time. Once again though, it's a survival horror game. She doesn't crush people with ninja kicks. The Tomb Raider comment was a good one though, but I believe that's because there Lara is an explorer, not an ice-cold killer. In fact, the fighting is exactly what turns me off in those games. It's even more over the top than Indiana Jones. But, just leaving it to exploring and escaping, it works. I will say that when those games first came out, I thought it was silly to have a chick that looked like that, but played cause the game was good. Over time she's become much more realistic though, (as far as games/movies go) and I think she's modeled about perfect now. There's still too much fighting in there for my taste, but whatever. Last Point: Unless she's built like a brute, it'd be nice if the game mechanics changed with a female lead. They should be a little more clever and rely on hit-n-run gun and trap tactics. Most of the time they just let a chick that looks like Paris Hilton break someone's neck as easily as Niko or Cash could. EDIT: To the OP, I think that's a cool idea. You could have a sort of half psycho girl running around. I'd play that. Like GTA/Manhunt with a girl.
Lil' Red
f*ck outta here with that female lead sh*t. If I'd ever play a game like GTA with a female lead. It would either have to be Queen Latifa's character from Set It Off or based off of it. No I didn't play as a female in Saint's Row 2.
