Zach
Well, LaunchGTAIV.exe is just launching GTAIV.exe to start the game, so I guess you could try launching GTAIV.exe directly yourself, or more to the point of your experiment, launching "GTAIV.exe -norestrict" yourself. *shrug* Edit: I'd try myself, but I'm running the game in the background and don't feel like saving, unloading, and restarting. gina78223
Either way social club automatically has to come and be pressed to actually play and that inturn opens up a new dosbox thingy....

Zach
The Social Club isn't required to play the game. I have yet to ever login to the dumb thing. Windows LIVE! is required if you want to save your game, but that you log into from within the game, not the launcher, so that doesn't matter. gina78223
My point is a dosbox comes up with gta IV and the command in title=its working but than it goes away and here comes mr RGSC with its own little play button to open up a speiclized dosbox. We need to bypass this RGSC to fix the commands. If anyone has time to play around abit and maybe find a solution please post back Update!!: Don't know how i did it but i made it work. Im running at medium textures highest rendering with a 45 view. I see some loading locations but really when the game is running smoothly and looking sharp you can't bitch about the small things. Zach
Well, I was just experimenting with it, and judging from my Process Explorer (tool to replace Windows default Task Explorer), it looks like GTAIV.exe has a built-in check to make sure it's not launched from anything other than RGSC.exe, i.e., it launches it itself and closes itself down. By simply launching GTAIV.exe, in the end, you just end up with this: So I don't know. Sorry.
2lame
I was stuck on the same thing yesterday... The trick is that since there is no more "Fatal Error MMA 10" or something, you can now safely log on to the Rockstar Social Club app. After you ran it and logged on, just minimize it. Then create a shortcut of the "LaunchGTAIV.exe" and add those commands into the "Target" field (mine looks like this: -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -novblank -renderquality 4 -texturequality 2 -viewdistance 99 -detailquality 99 -shadowdensity 16 -width 1024 -height 768 -refreshrate 75 -fullspecaudio) (the basic ones you will need are -nomemrestrict and -norestrictions) Then run the shortcut itself, not the Rockstar Social Club "Start" button! (you have to be logged there first with your account however, cause if not, the launcher will not play the game, instead it will return you to the Social Club and so till infinity) Try it and report
gta-man22
thanks 2lame, it ALMOST worked, i registered to the social club and put the -nomemrestrict -norestrictions, but these 2 dont work, i cant turn the textures up to medium, then i put -texturequality 3 and it give me poor textures, but in the config it tells me that its the very high one, wtf is going on? marvelous
Make a commandline.txt in the main game folder of GTA4. -norestrictions -nomemrestrict and it will unlock video card limits. You will get missing textures if you go over the restrictions. It's better to play with the restrictions on because it will accurate. I actually got better frames with playing it at highest graphic setting of the game but not without looking worse.
