Kane Hart
Okay I did this before and it worked though I read my MB was known to reset the overclock here and there on resets but I did the tester forget the name something 95 or something prime95. for 24 hours 4 times on each cpu.. Anyways she ran great at 3.4GHz even bought a special fan for it... The problem is I don't mind it be 3.0-3.4ghz but I can't get it to go anymore.. I used this guide I saw on the internet the guy had exactly the same hardware and grrr it worked great... But everytime I play with random settings and try to do manual or auto voltage I get the old lock and burn up while windows or booting or while in a game... Anyways here is my specs: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Core Stepping: G0 MB: P35C-DS3R RAM: DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 1024 MBytes, OCZ DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 1024 MBytes, OCZ DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 1024 MBytes, OCZ DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 1024 MBytes, OCZ (So yeah 4x 1gig chips hehe) Video Card: 9800 GX2 (well its fine unless there is a safe OC for it without new fans heh) If anyone could tell me exactly what settings to try or even if they have a guide on how to OC without crashing evey 2 min cuz it sucks and its confusing hehe.. It's funny I can program run mmorpg servers and heck even do hex editing and stuff really good... But when it comes to OC and bios grrr why did I fail hehe. Anyways any help would be great! Thanks, Kane PS the PSU like 800 or something so its not a power issues and the HD's are 2x f1 Samsung not raided right now.
Slick Rick
The Q6600 is an easy overclocker for most people. On stock voltages you should be able to hit 3.0 with only the front side bus adjusted, if you cant do that, try 2.9ish, if still not, than you either have a bad overclocker or its possibly your RAM is at fault, or mybe you just need a slight vcore increase. I currently have mine at 3.6 on air cooling, took vcore and some north bridge adjusting, just make sure you dont make any huge changes and you can mess around with it a little. Good luck. I just want to OC my Processor my RAM is sh*tty Gskill 5-5-5-15 ddr2 800 ram the reason i say sh*tty because when u have 8gigs of it it overclocks like crap. i am just trying to get past 1200fsb on my MSI p6n diamond. it just is having a hard time getting past 1200fsb its like WTH. i am at 1180fsb i am playing with the vid as well currently. i have a G0 slacker as well. I got it to be stable at 1210fsb but i had to up my ram to 830mhz. when i would hit 1200 my ram frequency would drop under 800mhz even though it was set? why would this happen? What the hell do you need 8gb ram for? You know it's actually slower for games then 4gb?
