Chiba
THE SHADOWS ARE SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT PEOPLE They always had. I have the PS3 version also and its the same. Enable postprocessing and shadows will look MUCH better. But didn't we get several graphic improvements for the PC version? Why not better shadows too? Postprocessing doesn't look good and is not a solution in my opinion.
siapnar
I sincerely doubt that Rockstar will re-write the whole shadow code just because some people think they are too grainy. I suggest giving up on this issue in relation to Rockstar 'fixing' it. I do suggest waiting to see if someone from the modding community can find a work-around to make them look better, or somehow change them. That's your best bet
CEMEH_CEMEHbl4
Solution to grainy shadows?is there any one? try -DX9 -windowed
schtaufuta
Hi, -DX9 ? GTA4 uses per se only DirectX9... -windowed doesn't function: When i click on the modified Launcher.exe i get this nasty rockstar club window and the game isn't windowed. Or is there a trick? I have a 8800GT with 180.84 forceware. I changed nearly every graphic option in the game, but the grainy shadows didn`t go away ;( I read something with a modification of a shadowmap, but don`t find the exactly tutorial, anyone an idea? Turn off the sun is a little too hard, i think Thx s.
docc46
9500GT 512mb here, and got same problem. I have 180.84 drivers (newest) Changing shadow density doesn't help. I think there are two solutions: - wait till the patch comes (who knows...) - get used to those f*ckin' pixeled shadows
Bullet_Chris
Virtua Tennis 3's shadows were even worse. Something like this: But after a driver update they looked fine.
