Ammo count dissapearing

I guess the only thing Ive really found thats bugged me is that my ammo count for my guns (normally right above the portrait of your equipped weapon) sometimes isnt there. It seems like sometimes when I start up the game its there and its fine, but other times I load up my game and its not there until I restart the whole game. Anybody else notice this?

My ammo count disappeared permanently.

 

Any idea how to get it back?

I've started the game up and I don't get any ammo counts at all, even when I switch weapon there's no weapon indicator.

 

However once on a firearm (not a knife/bat/fist), my ammo count is there but sometimes it fades away which I think is by design.

 

Try switching to a firearm, then switching away, then switching back and firing off 1 round - see if it comes up then?

 

Hope that helps, but I'm too used to GTA:VC/GTA:SA where it always shows you the weapon/ammo count regardless.
