Berkley
Hi guys, OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3 RAM: 1023 MB Internet connection type: Modem Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT (GeForce 8500 GT) CPU: 2.19 GHz Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio output Basically, today I bought GTA IV and when I played it, textures loaded very slowly and lagged as hell. Please decide me, pick the best from these lists: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 I don't care about the price so no worries about that.

XMike
http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/search/?Query=g...roducts&x=0&y=0 Also, what kind of CPU do you have? 2.19 is not very helpful. If you want to run GTA IV you're going to need more than a 2.19 GHz CPU and 1GB RAM, even if you have a GTX 280.

You're going to have to also double that RAM and see if you can possibly find, at least, a dual core clocked at around 2.4GHz or higher. If you're also considering those, I wouldn't mind pricing them up for you.

But how to gain more RAM and CPU ? By buying new processor, right ?
Jim
But how to gain more RAM and CPU ? By buying new processor, right ? To get more RAM, you buy new RAM according to what your motherboard can handle. Same goes with a CPU; if your motherboard can only handle it, meaning it must match accordingly when it comes to the motherboard's socket. Can you post what motherboard you have? Then I'll be able to find CPUs and RAM that will work according to your setup.

Picolini
If you're going to go as far to replace the RAM and CPU as well as get a new graphics card you may as well just build a whole new PC. I'm assuming you've got a prebuilt brand name system. That means you'll almost definitely need a new power supply (at least 500W for the gtx280 I believe). So if you get a new processor, RAM, graphics card, and power supply, to build a whole new system all you would have to get is a new motherboard and possible a case if your old one is too small/sh*tty. You can use your old hard driver and cd/dvd drives. If you're just going to stick with the same computer and just add in/replace the RAM and CPU as well as the graphics card then you'll need to know what your motherboard can take. If you can, post the brand name and model number of your computer (Right click My Computer, click properties from the drop down list, it should bring up a window that should have the computer company name and model number). In fact, if you could just take a screen capture of that properties window and post it here so we can see your specs as well. 2.19Ghz doesn't really help us know what processor you have. If it's not a dual core, there's no way you'll really play GTA IV well on that PC. You'd be wasting your money on even a 9800GT, nevermind a GTX280, since your processor wouldn't be fast enough. Jim
In fact, if you could just take a screen capture of that properties window and post it here so we can see your specs as well. That pretty much sums it up. Instead of just using the My Computer properties window, go to 'Run' in the start menu and type "dxdiag" without the quotes. If any kind of window pops up, simply press Yes and let it continue. Take a screen shot of the window that comes up, we only need the 'Syetem' tab. We should be good from there. Jodo
Look to see what bottle necks your facing Ghz speed for cpu isnt everything take innto account that a multicore 3ghz cpu at 800 fsb wont be near as fast as 2.4 at 1333 fsb , i also agree with whathisface about a new system , if u got a e4500 thats a 800fsb at 2.2ghz 4mb cache thats in no way a gaming processor , if u have a prebuilt systems odds are that mobo wont go any higher , yes your major problem is ram , however you will still have issues running high end games with 1, a mainstream Gpu , 2 , slow fsb , 3, low cache of a cpu , so with that been said , depending on your dedication to gaiming and have a sweet rig , go for 750i nforce 1333fsb cpu , i recommend e8400 (3.0ghz @6mbL2) 9600gt 1 gig ed. that there is a cheap machine that will blaze your frames you get now. ***********Self~Built************** EVGA NFORCE 780i 1333FSB [email protected] EVGA 9800GX2 [email protected] 1687MHZ(Streams)x2 1050x2(Memory) INTEL QX8200 2333MHZ [email protected] 1600MHX FSB OCZ OC 2x2GB OC^@960MHZ(Beat that ram ) NFORCE MCP 533 [email protected] 600Mhz X-FI X-TREME GAMER 32MB S-RAM ANTEC 64A 850W LCD 24" 1920x1200 Edited December 10, 2008 by Jodo
