Craigsters
I find, Aiming and shooting with the xbox 360 controller awkward in GTA 4 and can't use triggers and bumpers properly with the weapons, so I use my mouse and the controller to stir the car or camera or foot direction when on foot, I use classic settings for the controller in the game, standerd was to hard to use for some strange reason!.. I have Pinnacle Game Profiler the full version which I paid for, but haven't gone to there site to look for a better controller config, pin Profiler yet!.. I also have the Logitech Dual action gamepad, but haven't tried it yet with GTA 4!.. Owe driving and shooting out the window well chasing down someone in a car to kill them is very hard to do with thexbox 360 controller as well, had to use my controller with my mouse as well!.. The only Weapons I use with the xbox controller is the knife, bat and fighting or your fists!.. My Xbox controller for windows is the USB2 with Vibration or rumble!.. BladeVsNeo
Ok from what I've gathered around the net, the trigger buttons when used with a directx input controller (ie joystick) through the emulator are interpreted by the game as buttons only. There is no analogue control for them if using the emulator. So is there any other emulators out there that WILL work with analogue on the triggers? supermortalhuman
I still can't play with this and this >_< WTF this box makes it so it's NOT a ps2 controller at all - the signal is converted to "regular WINDOWS joypad" before it even goes into the f*cken computer. ROCKSTAR WHAT THE FRIG same but with this instead: :| anyone had any luck? Get a fix? Anyone?
lowelife
ok i got gta iv to work with the controller, only problem is the controlls are bit messed up using the ini the package you gave to download provided. the controller i have is an exactly replica of the xbox 360 controller. If someone could make me or give me a guild how to set it up to work like gta iv does on the 360, that would be great, thanks =)

BladeVsNeo
in few days win7 version of pinnacle must appear.go to their forums and make an thread there for your problem. As I said before "Pinnacle doesn't map the analogue controls. It just allows you to assign axis functions and buttons to key mappings (eg W,A,S,D)." BladeVsNeo
I've upgraded to x360ce vibmod 3.1.2.0 RC2 and although the xinput test app shows the triggers working in analogue mode it is still not recognized by GTA4. All other buttons and axis work correctly. Has anyone had any luck with this issue?

hn333
Anyone know if a Gravis Eliminator Gamepad Pro from the year 2000 will work with this hack? This is what it looks like http://www.joy-stick.net/reviews/gamepads/eliminator.htm It's pretty old. I know it doesn't have the enough buttons but I wondering if I could use it just for driving. lostred
SOLUTION FOR PS2 CONTROLLERS Ok, so I downloaded GTAIV from steam the other day. It took many hours to figure out this simple solution. Like many of you I am using my ps2 controller to play this game, and I was minutes away from going out to buy a 360 controller. But thank God...I found a solution. So assuming you have your ps2 controller and the usb converter here is how you do it: (this might have been mentioned before, but here's how it worked for me) download this file: http://lcsteam.net/dump/gta4/xbox360.emulation.ps2.zip (TY Catzilla and Flipper) Copy the xinput files (last 4 files in the zip folder) into your windows32 folder (click on c, then windows, then system 32. This will replace the existing files) -let me know if you have security issues replacing these files Then download this file: http://download.gta-expert.com/index.php?act=view&id=1850 There is a download page at the bottom of the screen (TY Fabio206) Open the zip file, go to Joypad PS2 file, then open the Emulator file and copy the xbox360cmu.ini file to your C:\Windows' Directory. (Just click on C, then windows and copy it there) Finally this is an extra step in order to substitute the xbox controller icons with ps2 icons within the game Download this file: http://download.gta-expert.com/index.php?act=view&id=2015 copy the two files (Bottens & Frontend) into this location; Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\textures This will replace the existing files, so backup all files beforehand, just in case. I'm not much of a computer head, but was able to figure this out only b/c of the help of this community thank you so much to everyone out there, even if I forgot to mention your name. By the way, you don't have to read the readme.txt files. If you do this step by step as described you'll be fine. So far it's been paying off... Let me know if I messed something up, or if something's not clear. Edited December 27, 2009 by lostred
vas14
I can't get Saitek PS2700 working; have tried multiple things, including lostred's post. The only way I can get controller to respond is to install saitek driver and sst software, and use fps emulation mode. I have win 7 x64. Anybody managed to get this gamepad working? Thanks. Chargr
Would a wire 360 Controller worked, or is it just the wireless controllers? I'm trying to buy a cheap controller for the PC.
McDodge34
Get a Saitek P990, they are usually cheap and if the game doesn't recognize it just get the drivers from www.saitek.com it works like the X360 controller but for a lot cheaper price, I didn't have to configure anything, everything is like on the x360 version of the game.
