GTA4 - modding ability

oh so cheat protection fails and we all will have a destroyed but moddable multiplayer soon

Unfortunately yes. But hopefully R* will come up with a solution to that soon. One possibility would be to provide a separate directory for user mods which will only be loaded in single player mode. We'll see...

that would still kinda suck cause we NEED multiplayer mods

rpg, zombie, new gamemodes and stuff like that

Lets see how this turns out, i just dont want to see another cheat destroyed multiplayer, but gta iv sp and mp get

boring after a while and we gotta see something new.

E/ Sent an email to rockstar about that mod-cheating, dedi-servers and cheat-protection

Does anyone know if its possible to mod the Vista x64 DVD version yet?

Yes, there's no difference between any of the files.

Go back a page and see a couple of my posts; try the Glock Rocket Launcher thing tounge2.gif

the mods themselves ain't my problem...

I cant even run the game when I use the "patch", I see the CMD screen and then it says GTAIV has stopped working...

Can someone post the modified files for a vehicle with tons of mass and better acceleration, or something of the sort?

I've tried all this editing with no real luck, though the last time I edited anything was back in the Midtown Madness days with simple notepad files. (I'm assuming you need to edit variables here in HEX which I don't completely understand)

Much appreciated smile.gif

Haha, you have contradicted yourself - you just edit the files in notepad.

Open handling.dat

and replace FBI with

FBI   99999.0  6.5   85	0.0 0.0 -0.21  0.2  5  0.24  1.0 160.0	0.34 0.66 0.7  35.0  1.50 1.25 12.5 0.12 0.48    2.4  1.6  1.8  0.10 -0.15 0.0  0.5    1.0 1.0 0.6 1.5  0.0  60000  	40440010	1    1

OK, for my next big update i plan to implement 2 things.

1) Anti-online code

then of course there is the incentive to update the software, why would you want to use the next version?

2) i will be releasing an addon API for C++ which will allow developers to use and call Native GTAIV scripting functions (at least some of them)

to produce a working mod of their own, or if you choose not to use the Natives you can simple not include the native code and add your DLL to the

/addons/ directory for it to be loaded automatically, so you will be able to inject your DLL along with this one smile.gif

have fun!

Wow, shame, I changed the bouyancy to 10% [minimum value] and the car floats but Niko dies because of lack of air, really weird.

Also I am stuck on changing the speed of the cars. I changed the value for Drive Inertia and Force to 500 but the rear wheels are locked, anybody already done this?

Cheers.

We should create a topic about the new data files in general, documenting and getting info for later explaining on www.gtamodding.com

I've played a bit with the timecyc.dat

This is the global sun ambient occlusion multipler; I increased each value to something viewable (like 0.000 to 9.000...)

Interesting when I press P to enable the blur/dof:

The timecycmodifiers.dat files from your pc folder are the timecyc's variation for interior/zones, pretty interesting:

My game crashes every single time I try starting it.

I launch hook.exe, it pops up and then closes when I start IV, then after a few seconds IV crashes too.

Any help, please?

Vista is actually DirectX10, go to Microsoft's site, downloads section and download the latest version of DirectX.
