BigDaddyRoth
I was just looking over R*'s site at the min specs for GTAIV and noted this. - Recommended * Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz Which I found truly bizarre. It's a known fact that the Phenom (I own one haha) is nowhere near a patch on the C2D and C2Q, so why is the inferior X3 Phenom (inferior to say, a X4) compared to the Intel? Could it be that the game simply works better on an AMD CPU? Then I read that it works better on Nvidia cards which adds more to the confusion. Let me explain why.. Known fact - ATI and AMD are the same company. Thus, if support was being directed there the better hardware to run this on would be a Radeon and Phenom. Known fact - Intel C2D and C2Q are better, faster more capable chips than Phenoms and any other AMD. And are usually reccomended with Nvidia (load up either Crysis to see my point.. The games were obviously written and developed on Intel & Nvidia systems. So why does GTA4 seem to prefer AMD CPUs with Nvidia cards? I thought I was the only weirdo that paired a phenom with a Nvidia card, because most fan boys of one or the other would go ATI-AMD or Intel-Nvidia. Bizzarre. And yes, I have too much time on my hands.
BigDaddyRoth
Also, note how the reccomended Phenom X3 is actually slower than the C2Q
ItWasntMe
It work's better on nVidia because the graphics card in the 360 uses nVidia chipsets I thought... But the PS3 does not share any chip architecture with ATI processors...IIRC Maybe this is why? Still doesn't explain why it reccomends the AMD at lower spec than the Intel ones... But I suspect it might be the nVidia chipsets in 360 which have transferrred with the port maybe? Some PC gurus will probably answer this better and correctly! But IMO that could be why. PS yes you are a geek!

PS yes you are a geek! Actually the graphics chip in th 360 is from ATI not Nvidia, it's the PS3 that uses an Nvidia GPU. As for the cpu recommendation AMD's processors have always done more with less. At any rate we already have a topic to discuss the system requirements here :- http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=376237 So closing.
