Simply~B
Hi, yesterday I bought GTAIV (Retail, European Version) and installed it ony my system: AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ @2,45GHz 2GB RAM DDR400 GeForce 8800GT OC Vista 32bit X-Fi First of all, I do NOT have any problems with crashes, textures, etc. The game does almost everything as it should... BUT No matter what settings I choose (from 800x600 to 1280x1024, from everything LOW to everything HIGH), I do not get a frame rate higher than 22fps. (Benchmark says ~21,45 fps, which is, according to FRAPS the maximal AND minimal framerate) Means, I play with 1280x1024 andd medium settings, playing is possible, but doesn't make any fun. Even inside buildings or at low-object-density areas, i get 22fps... When i set the details to max, the framerate only drops by ~3fps. This shows me that my pc would have the power to display medium or low settings with at least a playable framerate... Or am I wrong?! How can this be? Has anyone else experienced a behaviour like this? Or any solution? Thank you Simply~B
CCJ
I haven't purchased my copy yet, but is there a Vsync feature that isn't checked off? Or maybe when reconfiguring your settings require a game restart?
Timbits93
Your AMD Athlon X2 3800+ is bottlenecking
Vicetopia
Another fine case of CPU bottleneck.
Simply~B
Thanks for your answer, CCJ! In the game itself, there is no VSync feature, in my nvidia drivers i tried with and without Vsync --> no change You only need to restart after changing the texture resolution, any other change in the settings will go on-the-fly Yeah I also think it's my cpu that is limitating, but isn't it strange that even inside buildings with really not many objects and action, the framerate doesn't go higher?? I thought at least there I would have more fps...
