Dajinn-
Instead of getting the object pop in, I get texture pop in. But it's not for far stuff actually, it's for really close stuff that I turn away from for a few seconds and then I turn back and it has to reload the texture. It doesn't hinder gameplay or cause stuttering but it just looks plain awful. Also, what's with textures and shops for signs being like 10 feet infront of you and not loading until you turn your camera a certain way? I'm not sure if this is a bug or a graphical limitation on my part or settings but it's really annoying, especially when i'm trying to enjoy the game in free roam with a friend. jesushumper
Detail distance higher than 10? Be sure to install latest drivers. If you 've done both, then wait for a patch and/or new video drviers.
jb99
I was having these issues when exceeding reccomended video ram usage. The issues disappear if I stay in the green... but that's pretty weak IMO. Must be some *really* bad / unoptimized usage of video ram. I can't run my lcd in native resolution because of this, with a 512MB card. (Native res is 1920x1200). So this already very blocky game is even more blocky. Hopefully someone can figure out a way to get AA working at the very least then the lower resolutions would be more playable.

AA would be a lot of help for the lower/medium settings, for sure I am still getting odd texture settings on the cut scenes, its really weird. My native res is the same and everything looks like crap at a lower res (its not meant for lower res), it takes a lot of VRAM just to use my native, which seems way too much in my opinion. I get his problem with textures AND some objects (trees/bushes,etc) and it doesn't matter if I lower the gfx settings or not. Whenever I turn, I get objects popping in (fading in) and textures being redrawn. system: 4.4ghz E8600, 4 gigs ram, 2x4870x2, 64bit vista, catalyst 8.
Zach
Personally, I haven't experienced this problem yet, but with that said, I don't know why people are so shocked. They must be GTA-series newbies because this has been a "feature" of ALL GTA games since GTA III. Apparently and not surprisingly, Rockstar probably just ported their same texture caching algorithm from the GTA III engine to the new GTA IV engine. Of course, I know that doesn't make it acceptable, but I'm just sayin'.

Corgi
Turn up you detail distance turn down everything else. MEDIUM HIGH 32/100 59/100 30/100 0/100 that's what works for me.
