Cant start the game - no error code

When I start the game, the SC wants to connect, but failed. Then I choose jump the login and the game starts to load. After the black screen with some text, the game crashes to Desktop. "Problem with GTA4... "

 

I love it.

 

 

BTW, when I start the GFWL it asks for a hotfix. I go to that link, download the hotfix, but when I try to install it, it says that the language is wrong. And I cant find any other hotfix in my language (german). The hotfix is WindowsXP-KB938759-x86-ENU

I was able to cause this problem to my PC aswell.

It was when i was changing some settings in my Ati Catalyst software. Like AA and stuff like that.

I suggest you guys try to play around with your NVidia tool a bit.

Put the 3d graphic to "performance" or "quality" just play around a bit, and each time try to start GTA4.

 

Also dont forget to post your success or failure here so others can learn from it.

i have the exact same problem

 

one of 20-30 tries the game gets past the copyright screens and then works very well until crashes ingame

 

i have updated everything, drivers, netframe, windows live and social club

 

 

my system:

 

Q6600 @ 2,4 Ghz

Ati HD4870 512 MB

4 GB ram

Windows vista 32 sp1

 

 

 

in pcgames review they said the version they tested, didn't work at all with the radeon 4870 shame on the dickheads @ rockstar for not fixing it before release

 

i and so many other people have bought a broken product and we can't even return it

 

f*ck you rockstar - i bet you've lost a lot more real fans than you think you do and we don't give a sh*t about your DLC

 

here i was thinking after your immense success on the consoles you would've have the balls to not give a f*ck about some pirates

Ok I managed it. Got this tipp from another forum.

 

Set Vsync in nvidia panel to application. I had it to Vsync on.

I put catalyst options to default, and the crash after copyright screen still. I don'¡t want to make 30-40 tries each time I want to play!

It worked for me . If you got ATI remember to download ATI Tool or to manually set 3D clock speeds in overdrive panel, otherwise u'll run GTAIV with 2d clock (=bad).
