exeel
To me, almost every game is extra dark, since my monitor is a little old. I usually get by with pumping up gamma or brightness in a game. Though GTA IV has none, can that be true? It is VERY dark at nights, can hardly see anything. Looks fine when there is light, but when dark, it's REALLY dark. Graven
Generally, the darker the black is, the better it is. But if your monitor is old, that might be a problem. I played the XboX version using different screens and the quality can vary lot depending on the monitor. If You just bump brightness up, this game´s gonna look horrible at day times. Invest on new screen if You can. But it is also quite dark at certain areas. Star Junction is bright
Akdlas
Have you tried increasing the brightness on the display tab in GTA4 aswell?
exeel
There is no Brightness or Gamma option under Display, nor Graphics Where should it be? Any screen or explanation?
Officer_Dufus
I don't see it either. For now a solution would be to save through the nights and skip them or turn up your monitor brightness, and turn it back down during the daytime hours in the game. exeel
Yeah, that seems to be the only solution. My monitor is at max, so I gotta stay in the daylight, I suppose... Write here if anyone find out how to up the gamma in PC GTA IV
exeel
Oh, when I pressed Escape upon waking up from bed after saving, I came to the PAUSED menu and here the Display had a Brightness option. How do I pause the menu too, to get it in the future?
Zach
How do I pause the menu too, to get it in the future? The Brightness/Contrast/Saturation settings only appear on the "Display" page while you are in-game. That's why most people, including myself, miss it at first because the settings are oddly absent when viewing the Options-->Display page from the main menu before loading a game. Anyway, to answer your question specifically, you just hit ESC to pause the game, of course. It's not rocket science.
siapnar
BTW they labeled brightness and contrast wrong, it's actually the other way around brightness option = contrast contrast option = brightness
SlingShotUK
I've got a calabrated 50inch Pioneer plasma and have to say that the default Brightness (labelled Contrast) is far too high by default on the game. I've had to lower mine to one notch above 0. This makes nighttime look like night. I found the default makes night look wrong. On the PS3 on the other hand I had to up the brightness. I assume R* listened to complaints about it looking dark on the consoles and changed it on the PC.. Perhaps..
