newby01
right, firstly i apologise for being a complete thick git who knows nothing about computers. I excitedly bought gta4 for my pc yesterday and found, i am sure as no surprise to you, that it doesn't run too well!!!! i am presuming i need to upgrade my graphic card to be able to play properly, so can anyone give me any advice as to what i should be looking at. unfortunately cost is an issue, so please be as reasonable as possible. my pc has following spec. 250gb hard drive 3 gb ram ati mobility radeon HD2400 Intel core 2 duo cpu 1.83 ghz Many thanks for any help Andy
notsofrisk
i would think both a new CPU and a GFX would help you alot. I guess you are on VISTA wich could also need some more RAM even though 3gb should be enough to run it ok`ish as long as you upgrade you other stuff. Also you need to be sure that your powersupply will take your new card...... Pc stuff can be complicated, but you will always get help if you ask.... I would recommend 8800 GTS 512 as that is the one I have myself for a GFX, they are not that xpensive anymore, but again. Money and knowledge is a good combo here. Ask your local PC store on what and hows. They are usually very good help.

I am lucky enough to know when the are trying to rip me off, but nevertheless. If you have little to no knowledge, where do you turn if not to the store and in forums...... Graven
If money is issue I´d pick Nvidia 8800GTS or ATI Radeon 4850. And yes, check how powerful your PSU is before getting new card. You should upgrade CPU too.

I am not talking "wallmart" shop. or any other Chain of electronics. Shops that are dedicated to PC parts and repairing stuff...... DO NOT LET THEM INSTALL THE sh*t FOR YOU THOUGH. I usually do those things for myself and my friends. I am sure you have a friend or someone to ask about this. Learn it yourself and it will be a lot easier next time..... I hope you get what you want from these posts.... Ask more if you are uncertain... Cheers

Cheers oh you mean like that. yeah in that case i guess it's safe but probably not as easy accessible than to look up some guide on the internetSS. either way, good luck original poster. my advice is to buy the geforce 8800GTX 768mb or perhaps the 8800GT/8800GTS 512MB or 768MB and try and run the game. if it doesn't work right, you've got no choice than to get a new processor.
