Digitalos
First of all please note that this is not a CrossfireX setup, with two cards. It's a single card, with 2GB of VRAM as shown here. I am get low fps and general stuttery throughout the game, and it's basically unplayable regardless of graphical options set. Currently I am using the recommended ones by Autodetect, and I've tried the ones that R* has suggested in the post about the video options (20 View distance etc). It makes no difference, it's running badly and constantly stuttering/pausing. I am using Catalyst drivers 8.11. Why does the game only detect around 900Mb of VRAM for my card, which has 2GB? cataldo
Hi mate, I got the same card and am having problems different to yours. It only detects 1GB on mine and I believe it is due to the fact that our cards are dual GPU so they are pretty much seen as two graphic cards and as there is no option to select dual graphic cards it is only utilising one. Could be wrong but this is the most likely reason I can think of - Real pain in the ass as I'm running mine @ 2560x1600 so I need all the memory I can get. Am using vista and the latest drivers/catalyst.
Digitalos
Yeah this is my belief too, in that it's not utilising the full potential of my card. >_> I can't say that I have issues with any other game, and can everything very well indeed, normally I just hit all sliders to max and be done with it - yet in GTAIV it won't let me do that, but not just that, even with the settings suggested it still runs at an unplayable rate. I got mine from Steam so there is no chance for a refund. v_v
Rosbjerg
Maybe there's a problem with the 8.11 driver. Or it could be a conflict with the X2.. Do you have this problem in any other game? Maybe you need to update your motherboard drivers.
cataldo
Well I bought mine from a store and am pretty pissed seeing as though I don't have any issues with any other game. If you figure anything out let me know.
Rosbjerg
I'm using the single GPU 4870 and I had some stuttering problems at first too.. I updated my motherboard drivers, graphics drivers, sound drivers etc. And now it runs at 1.5x normal speed.
Digitalos
No all other games are fine for me, which is what is confusing. I've been told it's fairly heavy on the CPU and there is much faster than the AMD X2, just not in the AMD line. I will play around a little more, why they didn't make this friendlier is beyond me. :'(
