NecroViolator
All of you who bitched about Rockstar in the first place don't deserve their help, quite frankly. You knew everything was going to work out eventually and you moaned like an elderly woman. They are moaning BECAUSE THE GAME SHOULD WORK STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX !!! NOT AFTER 3459872345346536458796324609725986 PATCHES !!! Like if someone breaks your window with a Rock and the fixer comes and removes the glass one day and after 7 days comes with the window and installes it BUT you still wait 7 days MORE for him/her to put puddy around the window to keep it in place... IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY... Edited December 4, 2008 by NecroViolator
Mike0
Theres always GTASA + mods for fun on the PC GTA IV will be played in 2009 and beyond hopefully I always knew that Rockstar are not good at the technical stuff of making a game. They like to tell videogame stories, but they mess it up a bit technically. But they do try and the game is great in the end. This time they had a new self-built engine, euphoria added in the last year of development, they went multiplatform, multiplayer, somethings got to go wrong GTASA had its quirks which we eventually found out how to fix (although I still have black roads in the game, and blurry textures). The launch of GTA IV on the console was a succes because of the PR work put in (the event which we rarely see on the PC front happened : the game sold 3,6 million on day one), something simmilar to this on the PC was Lich King with 2,6 million on day one. So GTA IV made Take2 their money, so they are cool and relaxed now I also dont like the many new games with the mandatory motion blur, blurry textures and LOD tricks. I want SHARP textures, even if they are the basic ones. The "nice-looking-ness" of graphics is a subjective thing, not a technical checklist thing. Dont use motion blur and blurry textures just because the other games have it If only I were a lead designer at a game developer company They need to learn from Hideo Kojima, the Nintendodo guy, and other "great designers". But GTA IV is a great piece of game, dont get me wrong. And we all knew that technical dificulties will probably come Thats always a posibbility. This is a general problem of the games industry. The movie industry got the movie making process down and there are not many mistakes. But in the games industry its different because its software and software is a different beast
Malik
Once again, its nice to see they are working on it but do NOT get your hopes up for a magic "fix all" patch, it will never come. Tweaks, some game optimization and driver updates that *should* boost performance with higher end cards is the best we can hope for realistically. True no matter how much we all want a magical 'make the game good' patch we might as well wake up and realise we just got a crappy port on our hands Mik-o: blablablabla TL;DR

duffman12
Has Rockstar made any press releases as to the fact that their game is flawed? http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=323971
sauced
What r* really meant to say : "We are aware of the problems, but couldnt give a toss, as we wanted all your christmas money. Please bear with us while we count all the money. When we have filled our office with money, we will phone our over-stresssed programmers and get them to fix a few things. If we cant be bothered, just ring us from that joke phone number from the manual, and wait in a queue for 1 hour. Did we mention we make money from the phonecalls as well ? " couldnt put it better myself
