The-Real-Gta-Fan
Rockstar just fired off an email to us letting us know that some people are experiencing some issues with Grand Theft Auto IV for PC. Chevyboy
Once again, its nice to see they are working on it but do NOT get your hopes up for a magic "fix all" patch, it will never come. Tweaks, some game optimization and driver updates that *should* boost performance with higher end cards is the best we can hope for realistically. zenmaster
What r* really meant to say : "We are aware of the problems, but couldnt give a toss, as we wanted all your christmas money. Please bear with us while we count all the money. When we have filled our office with money, we will phone our over-stresssed programmers and get them to fix a few things. If we cant be bothered, just ring us from that joke phone number from the manual, and wait in a queue for 1 hour. Did we mention we make money from the phonecalls as well ? daxlax
As long as they give me a peformance boost patch I could live with the rest. I think it'll be asking to much for Rockstar to fix all the problems - I'm not saying they shouldn't though don't get me wrong..but I have realistic views when it comes to Rockstar and there PC stance these days. Recent example the straight port of Bully from Xbox 360 which they KNEW was already a crappy port in itself.

You knew everything was going to work out eventually and you moaned like an elderly woman. Well what's the best way to stop the masses from moaning? I know! How about first of all you don't say b.s to the community, by saying there getting "an original build" of the game? You shouldn't really bother spending your time "polishing" the extra features when the actual game code is in such dire disarray? I know such crazy ideas right? I'm sure if they just done a good straight console port, with options for better filters the majortiy would of knew what to expect and be happy. Of course we should be on our knees thanking god for the creation of Rockstar! Who are we to judge what we buy?
Rhoda
So how is it the select few can run and play this game without any mither or bother whatsoever? I'm almost certain a lot of these problems are home remedies because I see them on the front page and I also see solutions.

True, and those of us running it well went through a ton of tweaking and hours of playing with settings. That doesn't mean we should bend over and take it by R* and not say squat about a game that obviously needs some attention regardless of how a few people with too much time on there hands got it running ()
Rhoda
But at least you got there, so that may say something about your settings. Not everyone's going to get it spot on as soon as they install it, in fact I doubt anyone will. It takes time.

I also have 2 other identical machines (all kept in tip top shape) and they struggle to hit 25 fps on lowest settings (any setting for that matter). Poorly ported game is poorly ported. PolarisX
Has Rockstar made any press releases as to the fact that their game is flawed? I mean seriously they need to tell people theres problems, and if they dont then we need to warn people about this because those R* fat cats are taking all this money in and giving nothing in return but grief. I wish when i went out to buy the game yesterday there were reviews on every game forum because i wouldve steered clear. Now im short $50 and no game to play, and R* is just sitting back and saying "Sorry Dipsh*t youre SOL"

I only looked at the page that had the same thing the OP says in his first post, so if there was a malicious script either it was blocked with no popup for me or it is on a different part of the site. notsofrisk
I guess thats true. But what one really should do aswell (if you cannot get the game working that is) is to wait for the patch and see what happens. After the patch is applied you might find yourself without your save working and so on. many games have had that problem. So all the tweaking might be worthless in the end.(or you could not apply the patch if you have it working, but that will leave you without online play) Anyway. Regardless of what you do, thanks to all for doing some really constructive work here. I am sure it has helped A LOT of people. Not me I am afraid, so I will wait for the patch and see. i have tried all solutions, a few times actually. When I take the "can you run it " test I end up in the top of the list, even though I see people with much the same specs running the game horribly. Dunno why that is. My specs are. CPU: E6750 2,76Ghz PSU:620w GFX:8800GTS 512 Ram: 4GB (Xp only sees 3,2 but hey) HD:720 x 4 (so there is enough space) XP SP3 180.48 drivers (have tried 180.7 and so on) I hope Rockstar get this fixed as none of the provided good help from this forum helped me. I have Vista installed on one of the HD, but I cannot get it to work in Vista either. I am no NOOB when it comes to computers, so I know my way around, but also no master. So I will wait, and maybe think about raising my voice if the patch is useless. I do however understand that people is frustrated. This not how the gaming world should be. We have waited for this release, I would not mind waiting a few more weeks and have a game that is playable, but it is X-mas. I also understand how the sales would be different for Rockstar if this was released after new year. Ripped off? tricked by Rockstar? Maybe. Not for me to decide. I know I will love the game when I can play it. Anyway. Thanks tweakers. you make these forums usefull.
