Gryet
Hi all. I'm one of those poor bastards that cannot run the game. I am about to buy a 8800GT card as I can see that will most likely solve my problems. However I can see that most of those running 8800GT also have Dual Core machines. I only have a Pentium 4. Has ANYONE gotten the game to run on something like that? Current PC: Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.0 2 GB Ram 7600GL with 256 Ram I will replace the card with a 8800GT with 512 Ram. i_speel_good
The game does not support Pentium 4. Pentium 4 is a really old processor and I can't imagine it playing this game. Sorry, but you'll have to get a dual core, except if you wanna play with 10FPS on the lowest settings.
DML
Another PC of mine is an old Pentium 4 3.4GHz. I would be very surprised if it couldn't run the game (at all). Pentium 4 Prescott CPUs were very powerful (in every sense of the word) for their time. My C2D E6420 is probably only 20-30% faster than it (on average as a CPU itself)...however increases in the front side bus and memory speed work along side to make for a much more powerful run-time environment. Chevyboy
The C2D is faster clock for clock than the Pentium D's. Usually by a significant amount. To answer your question this game is VERY CPU intensive thus far, I'm playing on an E8500, I wouldn't want to play with anything less than a 3Ghz duo or 2.4Ghz quad imo. Not what you wanted to hear I know

Gryet
Not what you wanted to hear I know Not exactly - theres hope and theres facing the facts I guess. By now I am almost convinced that I will need to buy a new PC, even though I have never had any problems with any other game, including Crysis, Driver PL and Test Drive Unlimited. GD, this game will end up being a little more expensive than I thought.

I have those same specs except i have a 9800gt which is about equal to a 8800gt. I am looking into getting a new cpu because i would like the game to run smoother than what I am getting. Although i am playing on a pent 4 3.0 and 9800gt resolution 1680x1050 the game runs ok on medium to low settings, it could be better but I am not complaining. .. medfreak
A Pentium 4 is below the minimum requirements. It is as simple as that. Meaning if you got problems, Rockstar would tell you "you are on your own buddy".
ShooterSix
It works. I've played it on a P4 3.4Ghz, Radeon 3850 512mb, 2 gig ram. Low settings, quite playable now. At first it wasn't playable, but I raised my resolution to it's native 1650x1050 instead of crap 1024x728, now it's quite smooth, and with better graphics. Gryet
At first it wasn't playable, but I raised my resolution to it's native ... Strange. It almost seems like even with a minimum of a minimum PC you should be albe to play if you INCREASE the resulotion instead of lowering it. I've read several threads where people gets better framerate by doing this. Anyway, I think I'll have to buy a new computer instead.
