1.) Activation, registration is the worst thing in gaming history, who is responsible for that? Who designed it?

2.) No Anti Aliasing for PC version

3.) I can only save the game on a Microsoft server? Not local?

4.) Game looks and runs horrible on alot of powerful machines, even though the graphics look worse compared to xbox/ps3 version

5.) Only Xbox game controller works

6.) Alot of ATI users can´t even get ingame. Rockstar doesn´t have a QA management? Noone tested it on ATI cards?

7.) Someone please explain why this game runs smooth on Xbox360 (triple core technology, 512GB RAM, 500MhZ ATI graphic card) and won´t run (or worse) on a Quad Core PC with 4gb RAM and a Geforece 9800GTX with 700 MhZ! Or generally spoken, why does this game runs worse on highend PCs and runs smooth on consoles?

This all leads me to the conclusion, that companies like Microsoft and Rockstar work together to systematically kill the pc gaming market. I think especially Microsoft wants people to play with a controller and crappy, non anti aliasing graphics (xbox360).

Is it true, that Rockstar got subventions from Microsoft for developing GTAIV on Xbox, but not for the PC version?

That said, i´ll never going to buy a game anymore, before i tested it! (make your conclusions)

Gah calm down guys already. I was pissed too but now its fine. Just tweak and config. your computer, dl all updates and play around with ingame settings. I've seen a lot of people already who are running this game fine even with 9800GT and E8400 etc. There will be patch coming sometimes and I hope they work together with ATI/Nvidia dev team to fix this mess.

sorry but its still unnactable, i lend a xbox when gtaiv came out and even on my old NON flat tv it looked better, there´s no excuse that the game runs that crappy on a good pc and i dont want to wait for a patch, i spent money on a product and my system specs are way over the recommended, but the game doesnt look like the screenshots we´ve seen pre release, they were photoshoped.

It may be many things but its not some conspiracy bored.gif

Conspiracy might be a too hard word, but please explain why i need a Windows Live account to save and play the game?

Because you touch yourself at night.

Seriously, this is all necessary. The game was bound to suffer right away because of this whole hoo-hah about who can run what on which rig. There's a lot of tweaking to be done, so ride it out, experiment, and actually try it.

1.) Activation, registration is the worst thing in gaming history, who is responsible for that? Who designed it?

What's so wrong with that? It took me like 2 minutes with a slow internet connection (1Mb/s). GTAIV doesn't have one of those f*cked-up activation limits, so I see no problem here.

2.) No Anti Aliasing for PC version

You can always turn it on in your GPU's control panel.

3.) I can only save the game on a Microsoft server? Not local?

Lol, that would really suck smile.gif But you can create an offline GWL account and the game saves on your disc.

4.) Game looks and runs horrible on alot of powerful machines, even though the graphics look worse compared to xbox/ps3 version

If you set the game to look like on xbox, it runs just fine. That means a resolution of 1280x720, low (or medium?) details and low density sliders.

5.) Only Xbox game controller works

Using keyboard&mouse instead of the sh*tty controller is one of the merits of PC gaming. smile.gif

6.) Alot of ATI users can´t even get ingame. Rockstar doesn´t have a QA management? Noone tested it on ATI cards?

Dunno, never used ATI. But it's certainly not a conspiracy between R* and Nvidia.

See 4.)

I was pretty diasappointed/pissed myself, but let's not make it look worse than it is. It's simply a not-so-good console port that was rushed to the shelves without proper testing and optimisation. I believe future updates will remedy some of the issues.

I agree with just about all of your post apart from item 3 in your list - I can save no problem to my local HD, I know this because I am playing on a non-net-connected PC. smile.gif

Also... conspiracy? Nah. Why would Microsoft have anything to do with a scheme that would sever a huge percentage of their revenue from OS software alone, let alone games?

2.) No Anti Aliasing for PC version

You can always turn it on in your GPU's control panel.

...which makes no difference whatsoever. sigh.gif

I tried it on my HD2900xt, and it still looks crap; no AA, whether set to application-preference or manual.

NO YOU CAN'T and no one can. Don't tell wrong facts beacause you just THINK that it works that way.

- How stupid is it to play on xbox settings if you have a very good pc? that statement is just trolling.

- AA in GPU control panel does nothing

- So you think its customer friendly to register an windows live account, then an rockstar social club account, then waiting for both confirmation emails (which often doesnt work), then updating the live account (which doesnt work properly on x64 systems) Is that a easy way to play a game???

Dude stfu. Every threat that I read and where I see you, you only are flaming and whining. Learn to configure your computer, delete viruses, download correct drivers and clean your computer from the crap. 2/4 of the people can already play this fine after tweaking, config. and cleaning/updating their computer so stfu and get working on it.

Offtopic.

A conspiracy would be kinda far fetched, but not impossible. Especially if you consider that GFWL is free and Xbox live is not(not if you want to play games). But it does seem that R* and MS are working together very closely.

But the fact is that the only OS in the world that can run games natively is Microsoft own OS, so that makes me to believe that they don't actually want to shoot themselves in the foot.

If PC gaming would be completely dead, and everyone would only game on a console, and you only use your pc for internet and listening to music, there would be no reason to pay a lot for a Microsoft OS while you can do all that fine with a free OS like Ubuntu.

As far as I have heard it looks better than the xbox on most half-decent machines, if your pc doesnt fit the requirments don't bother replying.

I'll add that it certainly doesnt look worse than the console versions. in fact even at low settings it looks quite a bit better and at med-high settigns much better.

If you want the console blur filter to smooth out jaggies then press "P" to enable or disable it.

Wait.

WHAT?

It was Toronto who ported it? Not North?

Now who the f*ck decided that?

Now who the f*ck decided that?

Microsoft (through paying off North to make their "exclusive" downloadable content).

Just stop buying games from rockstar and start downloading them just b4 the official release dates...

Thats just what they deserve. I wrote them to get broke, lose wife and kids and die as lousy as theyve coded

It couldve been so easy and peaceful - But some idiots like me really bought this game, we payed with real money and got f*cked sneaky2.gif

Vercetti Gangsta

I'm truly happy I didn't pre-order IV and haven't bought it yet. In all honesty, the treatment from Rockstar is a disgrace.

Sure there's a lot of pirates that are trying to ruin their financial plans, but hey... There are some loyal customers in the PC world that want to pay for a good product and GTA IV for PC is simply disappointing (judging by peoples reactions).

Since the PC version was announced so long ago, it should be more than enough of time for them to create a decent port with minor or few issues. They failed.

Please don't post if you don't know. Turning AA in your GPU control panel won't help because if the game doesn't support AA, your GPU CP won't help you.

Never seen so many bugs since GTA3, and still then GTA3 was clean comparing to this. This game was rushed to achieve max sales during christmas season, they did that but are about to lose big number of dedicated fans. This game was not designed for future computers, we all know that.
