GTA85
The Release Date Check Failure window appeared on mine, I have the internet but it has been 12 hours since I installed the game and I still can not activate it successfully. I ran it offline and it told me I had activated it successfully. Pressed OK and the Release Date Check Failure window was still there.. so I closed it nervously because I knew something was wierd about that.. and six hours later Ive ran through technical support several times with no avail. I cannot use the Manual Activation button now. Ive reinstalled this but now the manual installation button does not work still, tech support has not offered any ideas as to where another file might be kept preventing this. I am having exactly the same problem, i have made sure port 443 is acessable through my firewall and router but i still got the Release date check failure box come up. I am now having the same trouble, even reinstalling it hasn't helped. I have emailed tech support and am awaiting a reply....
GTA85
I spent a few hours last night deleting temp files, and temp files in the app data inside a Rockstar and a Securom folder, then tried launching from the GTAiv.exe file itself in the GTAIV Programs foldier, it launches R* Social Club and when I click play it now works. I also changed the IE's LAN settings to "automatically check for connection settings" when running GTAIV if you want to save and go online. You can of course run offline and you may already have these settings selected anyway but several have not and tech support has not realised IE is responsible for connection problems yet. GTA85
It may be best to try and check the GTAIV.exe file is running, close R*Social Club (and start GTAIV.exe, it will load R*Soc Club from this command, and then try PLAY, it should work unlike the DVD link and the launchGTAiv.exe file) and also try checking GamesForWindowsConnects well, if not access IE connections-LAN-auto connecting settings
brendonjw
So you didnt need to push the activate manually button after this? Or that screen never poped up? Thanks for all the advice, the response i got from secrom was to look at the website, idiots, how do they think i got their email address. I will try this soon, just need a bigger PSU for my new graphics card which i will get today

Where abouts did you find the securom folder?
GTA85
I scanned the pc for securom, and also there are rockstar files in the applications folder. you must search for "hidden files" in the search options. But it might be that I tried the gtaiv.exe file, because if I try any other link it does not work. Sorry I cant be more helpful
