I had some time to play GTA4 and try out this command and it did not work, I got the RESC10 error in 2.5 hours of gameplay. I also installed the Nvidia 181 drivers, but those didn't fix it either. sad.gif

Any other commands I should try?

Did not fix the RESC10 error.

GTA4 looks great at the settings I'm running and I don't really want to have to turn the settings down. Do I have the settings to high? Should I use the defaut settings? Here is a benchmark from my current settings, works great for 2+ hours then I get RESC10. angry.gif

UPDATE!

I was playing GTA4 when I got a popup saying I was disconnected from LIVE. I tried to login again but I got this message "Can't connect to LIVE ERROR CODE:0x80151919, I tried to reconnect to LIVE but was unable to using the LIVE login menu. At this point I pressed the ESC key and that is when I got the RESC10 FATAL ERROR. I think the problem is with LIVE login!

First things first, Disable PHYS X in NV Control Panel and also set "Max Pre-Rendered frames to 0"

Having said that I suggest using these tags in your command line:

-availablevidmem .####

For some odd reason peeps put this past what their card is capable of memory wise, if your card is 768mb and your ingame settings use 706mb then this math applies(703/768 = .91)but you should put it a tad higher to say .93. to be on the safe side. Or if your ingame settings use 543mb and your card is 768mb then the same math would apply(543/768 = .7)so then you would raise it to about .73 - .74.

-noprecache

This game seems to cache terribly, meaning it doesn't always seem to know when to dump/ clear things out of cache or maybe even add them, not sure either way really...

-nvblank

I refuse to pass up a frame...

Sad thing is that with Max Pre-rendered frames set to 1, I seriously get 10+fps on average, but it WILL RESC10 without fail...sometimes sooner and sometimes later suicidal.gif

I have followed this thread since the beginning as this was also happening to me but I can now enjoy unlimited play time due to these steps, with a minor caveat which is you can no longer run the benchmark as this will introduce the sound loss issue that so many others seem to have encountered but in my case the loss of sound was a direct result of running the benchmark(again why I don't know...)

Hope this helps,

h

I put the commandline.txt file in the install folder, is that correct?

May I suggest in the command line using:

-availablevidmem 1.05

I also want to apologize for this earlier statement as I was shooting from the hip in my anxiousness trying to get this fukker to work moto_whistle.gif

I have also tried......

- Disabled GPU PhysX

- Set pre-rendered frames to 0

- Set to "Single monitor compability mode"

I get it with or without the command.txt file.

I used the -memrestrict 629145600 command line for a few days and my crash times were greatly improved - went from about every 15 minutes to once every couple of hours, maybe. Now for some reason it's even worse than it was before. I'm stuck on the bank mission because it's too long to finish between crashes sad.gif. God damn this game.

I played GTA IV for 4 hours with the -noprecache & -novblank command line parameters, but I got the "Can't Connect to LIVE Error Code: 0x80151919" for the second time. I also turned the clip capture OFF, I had turned it on for Dwayne & Bohan Strip Club Problem."Video".

I just edited my last post from Dec. 20th http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1058789267

Where i equivocally mentioned what seemed the solution at least in my case to the resc10 error. Settings that have worked for me since (with hopefully no more errors up until now for a few days anyways fingers crossed lol). involves using 180.84 beta3 drivers found at guru3d and commandline.txt using -memrestrict 314572800 -noprecache -fullspecaudio /high parameters. I use high textures BTW.

This time it did not crash, it only stopped working. This time the Fault Module Name was msvcrt.dll. dontgetit.gif

Windows errors related to msvcrt.dll?

msvcrt.dll is a module containing standard C library functions such as printf, memcpy, and cos. It is a part of the Microsoft C Runtime Library.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had high hopes that the 1.0.2.0 patch would fix my RESC10 problem, but it did not. sad.gif

With the clip capture feature on I was able to play 2 hours.

On the 1.0.2.0 patch webpage it says "Certain causes of the RESC10 error have been fixed (Alt-Tab, change resolution). " Does this mean that the only RESC10 error that this patch fixed is when you Alt-Tab or change resolution?

I like that they fixed the "Wireless 360 controllers not functioning - Triggers were full on/off, fixed".

I turned off the clip capture feature and I got the RESC10 in just under 3 hours. With the old 1.0.1.0 patch I could play for 4 hours with clip capture turned off. sad.gif

Looks like some added numbers to the error with the 1.0.2.0 patch?

I am tired of spending hours each day reading forums trying to figure out this problem. I have tried everything. RESC10 anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours after starting the game. Will R* please actually respond with something here? The latest patch is not fixing this problem and this is not limited to low end machines or pirated/cracked versions. If you google "RESC10" you will see just how many of your customers are having this problem.

In my case before the patch 1.02 the RESC10 error happens a few times, but now with the last patch it's realy worse. Now I can't play more than 1 hour and sometimes it can happen 3-4 times in 1 hour and I don't have a low specs rig, so the problem is not with my Pc (quad 9550 and Nvidia 260gtx and a lot of mem. Still no response from R* at this moment has I can see..... suicidal.gifsuicidal.gif

I desperately want to use the clip capture feature. Unfortunately, with my hardware, it seems impossible. It's not due to a lack of power, oh no, I'm running a top of the line powerhouse, everything updated.

Now, however, I am beginning to get frustrated. Nothing appears to work with regards to solving this issue and I am starting to lose my patience.

As far as I am concerned, the clip capture facility was one of the features I was most looking forward to and would provide the most replay value from the PC version of the game. When I do try to use the feature, and when I do manage to get a few clips (which are always sub-20 second snatches of action) and edit them together, I see the potential and it frustrates me even further. I've lost count of the amount of amazing moments of gameplay that I have missed or the amount of times I have driven past a part of the city and had an idea for a movie and unforunately had to abandon it and move on.

I can only play this game with clip capture off. With it on, I crash within the hour. Sometimes, if I am lucky, I can top a couple of hours. I can only capture clips running around 20 seconds in length. Clip capture length is supposed to be dictated by RAM amount. I have 6GB of DDR3. Tell me how that's too little when people with considerably less can capture more than a minute at one time. Sometimes I cannot enable clip capture because I 'don't have the system resources'. That's preposterous.

I run a clean system (Vista64) with no extranneous services or background programs. I am astonished at how this problem slipped by the QA team. I am also astonished that it is still unfixed, two patches later.

I'm purchasing another 6GB of ram, making a total of 12, this week to see if any difference is made. I'll report back to tell you whether it makes a difference, but I'm not anticipating anything drastic.

I'm also going to switch to nVIDIA at some point this week as well (a 295 instead of my current 4870X2) so I'll let you know how I get on.

I just had the game running with no crashes of any sort for 8 hours before I shut it off. Had never gone past 3 or 4 hours before and usually wouldn't last an hour. All I did was lower the texture quality to medium as I saw someone say on another forum had worked for them. There is a noticeable quality difference but it is not that bad. The game still looks great and heck, it is nice to actually get to play it for once. Hopefully R* can get a real patch out at some point as I didn't spend this much money on a high end PC to play yahoo chess, but for now, I'll live with it.

Just to add if this helps anyone. Running at 1600x1200 (max my monitor can support), the game is not patched, I have .Net 3.5 sp1, pre rendered frames is unchanged (3), clip capture is off, render quality is highest, draw distance is 40, vehicle density is 35. forget the other stuff. my specs are a few posts above.
