New video upped:

The Schottler Massacre

"A moment in 2005 that many of Schottler will never forget". (CCTV Shooting Footage)

YOUTUBE HD STREAM ONLY | 64MB WMV 720p DOWNLOAD

All editing and music directly created in GTAIV video editor, Vegas 8 used for addition screen filters only.

This was a basic scene I wanted to try with a theme and bring something more experimental with use of cameras in the editor. Its nothing that hasn't been done already in-game, but again, all camera practice work for me like my other videos.

Very nice - superbly shot as always.

You really captured the feeling of watching an horrific event from a distance. Very GTA stylee. smile.gif The times I've gone nuts in the hospital.. lol. It's too tempting isn't it.

I loved the final bit when he shot the cop and you cut the music - worked very well indeed. I remember you mentioning you were working on a CCTV movie and you've captured that style nicely. So did you use Vegas to create the CCTV style and add the text to the top left?

Also, how did you do the captions on a black background?

Cheers mate.

Basically all the editing, camera work, music, cuts, and titling are ALL from the editor as one movie as is, no other editing/cutting or fading was done it Vegas. All I did was bring the one rendered 720p wmv into vegas, added the cctv "filter" effect with that interlace TV look at th times needed and added the border and timecode as a png made in photo shop with a transparent center to it. The B/W tint is all in the original render from video editor.

Im trying to squeeze everything out of the editor rather than Vegas, I just really wanted that camera filter otherwise I would have left vegas alone.

Oh, also I used a black strip section at the titles moment to black out the rockstar watermark in the titles as they pop up.

The next video is going to be more of vegas using snippets of moments tied together, but be warned its going to be very wrong, very warped and very dark in places devil.gif And dare I say quite disturbing.

Very nice! Too bad about the spelling error, though (your/you're). I suppose Kill Bill has inspired you somewhat. It would have been cool if you had Dwayne's back-up guys with you, but I guess you can't really get them to randomly kill innocent people.

I really wanted to do a surveillance camera effect while robbing and killing someone who had just used an ATM, but the people of LC seem to rarely use the ATMs while I'm around. When I finally found the perfect victim, a f*cking cop just had to walk by and ruin my shot.

Anyways, I keep it simple in my videos. No storyline, just random fun stuff. I uploaded my latest video today.

I knew at some stage a spelling error would arise, the more you check and look the less you spot biggrin.gif

What I keep doing is grabbing a certain amount of random clips and instead of having an idea, load in the clips and see if the clips give me an idea of a "theme" for them and work from that. I like the challenge of squeezing out something from very little. Thats why most are shorts and not trying too hard to make something exact, I am a camera shot addict so even walking down the road gets me worked up (hence my very first video I made in the editor). I seem to have a habit of that way of working really.

So far I haven't really gone into the game and had an idea and then selected a planned scene and took clips FOR that idea, well, not yet anyway.

As i say the next video is going to be, how can I put it ... "Nico's nightmare" (extremely warped) devil.gif

I find I'm the opposite in that respect.. Although I do find that I keep on recording clips based on something cool I've just seen or done, what really get's me excited is thinking of a proper story and then working out how to achieve it. The problem of course is that when you have a full storyboard in your head it's a massive challenge to go out and film it..

I have a full story in my head at the moment involving Niko losing someone close to him in a mugging gone wrong (or failed hit), then leading to him being arrested, serving some time then getting out of prison to exact revenge on the guy responsible. I think it can work but will require a lot of different shoots which are then cut together to get the effect I want.

Im still going to think of the more random type edits, but I have to admit that I find it hard to invest in a movie idea unless it has some kind of narrative to it.

Your next video sounds intriguing Monkey.. Sounds quite psychological, or is it one big gore fest? wink.gif

Not a gore fest as such, and yes psychological on the basis of very bad scenes from the game edited in a very warped way and also a fresh created audio track using alot of effects on sound also. Basically going all out on how disturbing you can get with it and that will be my final video of that nature.

After Im going to make a series of comedy shorts, one of them I already have footage for and its going to be very funny once complete. And also now modding has arrived something Im going to do with trains in the game too.

Ooooh superb.. I do like how varied your being. It's certainly good to explore every facet of the game and what the movie editor can be used for. The sound effects on your next video could really add something to it.. However you edit it, I know it's going to be a cut above this kind of video.. Looking forward to it.

The comedy shorts will be fun to watch. I do like those kind of videos as they are as much about comic timing than they are about a comic situation. Can be quite tricky to achieve but work really well.

Yea I cannot WAIT to be done with this darned film I've working on. I really need to have some mods made to make this process go a lot smoother lol like:

-Stagnant MP Time of Day.

-Stagnant MP Weather

-Weapons OFF MP option.

-Vehicle color toggle painter

-Vehicle toggle-repair with push of button

-Vehicle flip toggle.

-I'd love to be able to have a key to adjust a cars mass in real time, so if a car were to do a hard 90 degree turn and begin to flip, the player could simply toggle the mass option and have his car realistically do a barrel roll down the street.

Alright I'm done venting & ranting HA! I just came out of a 4 hour editing session and my patience with this thing was starting to wear thin once again lol. Just a small chase scene and a end-of-film stunt shot to shoot and then I can finally begin post-production PFFT! Man this stuff is time consuming!

I assume you are fully aware of simple native trainer?

Not sure about MP though, but anyway for those making SP videos and need consistency in scenes to lock the weather, fix the car damage to keep in a scene, or have any weapon for a scene / wont die for a shot, this is the dogz nuts.

Adding this to first post me thinks.

Yeah great idea to add it to the first post - it sounds ideal.

I checked out the thread and coreDuo keeps on adding new features - he rocks.

Sounds like the perfect tool for us movie makers.

how did you get the cctv camera to move (zoom up to Niko) as he's moving and firing?

You do know that he has done all the camera movement in the replay editor, don't you?

if you're referring to the video editor, yes.

but what i dont know is how it's done. I know there are fixed and free camera angles etc.. but how do you get the camera to zoom in on a specific spot?

He's moving the camera towards Nico with the Free Cam, I suppose.

There is no other zooming option, afaik.

So it's possible to use the WASD to move the camera as the clip is playing, AND actually have it get saved? If so, that opens up a world of possibilities (can you say "bullet time"?)

You have to set up the camera positions and add movement between them, so yeah, that's no problem.

i gotcha now. I was thinking you could actually free move the camera yourself. Instead, you set up 2 (or more) markers and set the camera to move between them..

GTAMonkey2012

Goto the first post and check the PDF manual link, gives full info on how to use "blend" options to have smooth movement between markers too.

BTW yes, lots of use of free cam and setting zoom values and moveing between markers and using "blend" etc to make fast swing zoom in etc effects.

90 Percent of what ive done in videos is mainly all "free" camera.

What can be done with 3rd party and modding as a video ... brilliant! One of the best ive seen in terms of creative idea and funny.

Grand Theft Mario:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bqh02WkNyV4&fmt=22

That was amazing!!!!!

Awesome video. I have so got to get that mod installed, to allow super jumps..

Man, it's going to be a fantastic year as more and more creativity is used in making these movies..

Any idea how he did the clothing flicker thing? Was that a hotkey which switched between two outfits?

probably two movies, cause the clouds change too. and then he just merged the two together.

btw, posted this in the help thread, but i think it fits better here...

"hi there! is there a way to increase the clip recording time? instead of being only 30 seconds, can it be increased to 1 minute or whatever time you want?

if not, is there a mod to do so? or can it be made?

sorry if this was asked before... "

To get the camera moving exactly the same way, and to also get Niko to move exactly the same way... No, I don't think that's possible.

Well it is possible "i think" ... the clip capture only captures skeleton/positioning and other data but the texture isn't something saved as it loads it all from game when loading a clip, so I would assume he used the same captured shot and then switched texture, loaded, render .. then used 3rd party to chop between both wmv renders.

Doesn't explain the change of sky and ground foliage showing up in the chops so maybe it was a manual repeat job (even more clever to get right).

I haven't at the moment switched textures to see if the editor simply loads them in a already captured clip, i assume it probably does without a hick up.

Its officially 30 sec, but can differ from 30 - 50 or 1 min dependent of resource/scene/content but nothing you can force to be more (unless at some stage it gets hacked).

Sometimes after saving a clip when you save again you get a longer scene. (so i get one clip about 30sec long and the second is about 60sec+ for the same scene)

it would be awesome if we could change the time to what we need...

maybe someone can make a mod.
