More detailed control panel for us video uploaders and I wish they would get rid of Flash for searching.. A straight HTML output results list would be so much more efficient. It's also god awful for finding new video content I find. They have the featured and most popular but what about a quick browse facility - again being all flash based it's very slow and I get the impression that browsing is not that easy.. A bigger site template without all the flash (except for video playback) would be the way to go... As a professional web developer it's quite annoying to use.. lol. smokeringhalo Posted December 18, 2008 Share Posted December 18, 2008 I and other ppl had problems with Vegas Video not rendering edited .wmvs correctly (only audio, no video showing)...The problem happened when the original video was being resampled, also when rendered to a different framerate... So yeah, you'd have to output your video with the exact same characteristics as the original. Google "SUPER C video converter", it's a great little freeware tool that can convert pretty much any video format to any other. I'm not sure if it can output to 32-bit but it's worth a shot. You might also want to check out Vegas Video, great editing software and much more powerful than Windows Movie Maker. It's not free though, but how you get it is up to you... EDIT: Have you tried the K-Lite Codec pack? http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm I haven't tried the codec pack yet, downloading now. I'll install and mess with it tomorrow though as I'm pretty tired atm. Thanks! In the meantime I just uploaded it to youtube: From Russia With Love It's pretty twisted though so fair warning - lol. btw, have you seen the file sizes of the wmv's the game editor creates? No wonder it takes so long to upload to social club! K-Lite didn't work. I don't think I'll be able to export in 32 bit anytime soon. I even downloaded WMSnoop to examine the files and compare. There are differences but the main ones are the header and 32 vs. 24 bit color. Its my belief that 1 of these two things are preventing wmv's from movie maker to be reinserted into the game. I did go ahead and make a High Quality version of "From Russia With Love" as the previous version really looked crappy imo. The older version has been deleted so the previous link is now void. I did one last night but when I try to play it in the gallery or in media player it just sit's at frame 1 and won't move forward. Very annoying.. Could this be a codec / update issue (running Vista x86, fully patched) or just a case of needing to re-render? I'm running v1.0 of the game. Yeah nice one, I'm going to try that after I finish the web render.. Very annoying if thats the problem as it seems to glitch so easily.. The last time I tried a 720p render it crashed.. Takes forever to load a single page or upload a sh*tty web quality video. 2) Doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not, Social Club still makes me enter my birthday to view videos everytime I visit. Screw that. 3) No HD videos allowed. Just Web (sh*tty) quality ones that look terrible after being converted to flash. 4) Can't upload any videos that have been edited outside of the GTAIV editor. After trying to render videos in all sorts of ways, and always getting "upload failed", it seems that no matter what the resolution, draw distance, etc. is, all you have to have set in the graphics options is medium textures, and that seems to be the minimum for uploading. Maybe everyone already knows this, and I only tried it out with a 9 second clip, but I'll try uploading something longer tomorrow and maybe, finally, it will work. Great use of Niko's "fidgets" to convey the confusion too. The pausing of the music, with the police "noddy's" gawping all the time like something out of a bad trip .... hahaha, love it mate, real good. Kind of reminds me of Monty Python. the ending is a well placed/paced pay off to further darken the trip One question, how did you get the police to do what they did, a few actor friends? I recognized that the camera sight is always 50 after rendering so my texts were at the wrong position.So to choose a deeper sight is not possible at the moment. But i hope they will patch things like that. Well i can say after 1 week i finished my 96sec video. I think i wont get it better. Oh and thanks for the comment on Social Club and the rating - really appreciate it. Really pleased it had the comic effect I was looking for. That first bit made me crack up everytime I went over the scene. When I discovered the 'glitch' to get the cops to do that I was p*ssing myself. One of those WTF moments. It was hard to know where to take the video and I was a bit worried it may come across as boring with the same kind of thing through out - i.e looking back at the cops. At first I was going to have Niko push past the cops to get out but then I thought it would be quite interesting to make them dissapear and create the illusion that Niko may just be seeing things.. Monty Python.. Wow, now that is a compliment! I used to love watching their stuff on TV when I was a kid - pure genius. I love this kind of stuff.. Doing something in the game that isn't what you would expect.. So much pontential it's scary. Although I wish we could do more animations with the characters.. Like in the SA:MP mod where you can type commands to sit, wave, point etc .. Now there's an idea.. Wonder if someone will work out how to mod the game so you can trigger the animations.. drunk, fall down etc.. oooooh baby. Heh heh on the ending. That clip came about when I was trying to get other police shots - totally caught be (and Niko) by surprise.. When I saw it I knew I had use it as the ending. My girlfriend was quite shocked by it and saddened that he ended up dead .. lol.. Now I know what directors must feel like when showing a film to a test audience and then considering changing their original ending.. lol. Ah the police thing was done with a glitch I found. Get some stars (the higher the better).. Go back to safe house... Wait for cop to run in.. Go to sleep but don't save. Then walk out and cops should be there but won't shoot.. They will just follow you and point guns. If you bump into them it's on again and they will shoot. Great glitch.. Oh one more thing I was going to ask you about. You mentioned about debating 'angles'. Did you feel some of the ones I chose weren't ideal? Any feedback on that score would be great. Not really. The reason it renders so long is because it's rendering real-time on FULL SCREEN. It should either have a thumbnail or an option to turn the preview OFF. It should either have a thumbnail or an option to turn the preview OFF. watermarks have an awful impact on render time. it has to draw that crap on every single frame. and a ten minute video takes over an hour to process in web quality. sometimes my game crashes towards the end of the rendering because it takes so damn long.. or how about an option to use your own music without having to send it to another editing program... Rendering in 720p took amazingly long time even though I have a decent cpu (Q6600 @ 3,2). I think it rendered at maybe 3 fps. Great concept and I love the lip syncing with that woman. My only criticism would be the knife at the end. If it still fit's into your vision for the full movie I would drop the killing angle.
