Very frenetic and a great settings for that kind of battle. Must have taken ages to edit didn't it? Was this just a normal co-op game you setup and recorded or did the other players know what you were doing? Also, you must have had to be hitting F2 constantly weren't you? I must admit I'm getting abit sick of the recording mechanism. I keep missing action that I expected to be recorded and it means I have to keep doing 're-shoots'. I really wish they would give us a 'record' button which you hit (a red circle appears bottom left) and then lets us record the clip until we stop it. Either that or a much longer record buffer. Thanks mate. Well in all honesty I simply randomly pressed f2 in different places, just happened to get that nice wall jump and car shooting and the 3 members working well together in the tower as separate moments over about 20 mins of playing. It all came from me testing it recording in MP for the first time. Also the team work highlighted I didn't realy realise UNTIL I looked back at the playback and targeted each character in the scene and was impressed how it worked. We were all on the same team but not knowing it was recorded. I was frantically trying to kill the woman player with the rocket launcher, it fades out because that's where the recording ended and you don't see her get killed. Im not too happy about 2-3 jumpy camera moments (the damn handy cam effect can make cuts jump which is frustrating). Also the end when I fire in the editor happens EXACTLY at the end of the song, but no matter what on render the time slips out a few milliseconds, nothing I could do on that really. I really wish they would give us a 'record' button which you hit (a red circle appears bottom left) and then lets us record the clip until we stop it. Either that or a much longer record buffer. Totaly agree (just put your comment in the first post too). Edited December 17, 2008 by GTAMonkey2012
smokeringhalo
Has anyone successfully exported their video from windows movie maker back into the game? I rendered my vid, imported it into windows movie maker to add a sound effect & make better titles and exported using a custom profile to get the same bit rate, resolution, etc. but it only will play the audio when put back into the game. The only difference I can tell in the properties is that windows movie maker wants to export it as 24 bit video stream 2 and the rockstar editor exports as 32 bit video stream 1. I'm sure there are people here who know more about encoding than I do and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It doesn't use actual videos, it's custom .cli files that contain the game data you recorded.

Sure it uses in game assets before rendering but it creates .wmv files in the rendered folder. These wmv files are used in your game gallery and are the files that are actually uploaded to social club. If the game recognizes one encoded wmv, it should recognize another if it is encoded properly. This is what I'm trying to work out. EDIT: Just to be clear what I'm trying to do 1) Export the rendered .wmv video 2) Import that .wmv into windows movie maker, edit and export the new .wmv 3) Put new .wmv back into rendered folder Edited December 17, 2008 by smokeringhalo
creat3d22
Are you trying to upload the edited .wmv through the game to R* Social Club? It probably should do it, but I haven't tried. Though if you're trying to edit the (edited or not) .wmv file in the in-game editor, that is definately not possible but I don't think that's what you mean... Yes but the upload fails and the game gallery player wont play the video, only the audio. The only substantial difference between the wmv files created by the in game editor and the exported wmv from movie maker is that the gtaiv editor version is 32 bit wmv3 / video stream 1 and the one Im trying to use is 24 bit wmv2 / video stream 2. I've trying to find a codec that allows movie maker to export in 32 bit.
creat3d22
I and other ppl had problems with Vegas Video not rendering edited .wmvs correctly (only audio, no video showing)... The problem happened when the original video was being resampled, also when rendered to a different framerate... So yeah, you'd have to output your video with the exact same characteristics as the original. Google "SUPER C video converter", it's a great little freeware tool that can convert pretty much any video format to any other. I'm not sure if it can output to 32-bit but it's worth a shot. You might also want to check out Vegas Video, great editing software and much more powerful than Windows Movie Maker. It's not free though, but how you get it is up to you... EDIT: Have you tried the K-Lite Codec pack? http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm Edited December 18, 2008 by creat3d22

The video wouldn't be the same without that sound effect near the end that is only made possible by windows movie maker atm. I'd love to add more to my videos but don't want to mess externally yet until I've got more hours of the in built editor under my belt. Your Titties video was really good as well mate - you certainly got the video editing skill. I'll check out your other ones.. Such great fun isn't it.. I have just about finished my first real story video. It's a psychological black comedy about what happens when you live the gangster lifestyle for too long and can't be sure just what's real and what isn't.. I'm really pleased with it but just have a few tweaks left before I release it.. Loving the potential of the editor.. Now that I've built a full 4 minute video I can see all the other types of movie I can make. I'm trying to steer clear of the random killing ones most people make and try to innovate a bit.. Theres a big city to play with and lots of stories to tell.

The only slight problem I had was the final jump as the camera position you chose isnt really one that would be possible in real life so it looked a little unrealistic if you know what I mean (only the camera chosen, not the actual jump). Great video.

Heh, ah I know that kind of thing very well. In my current video there are times when Niko does stupid assed things, like bumping into doors or just looking stupid so I have to be very creative with the camera to cut them out or avoid them being shown. The worse is when a cops arms are showing through the wall so I have to angle him out.. lol. I didnt notice the issue though mate, so good edit! Nice final camera work on that too, after the "rate that sh*t" the next bit with that filter (that personally I cant understand why Rockstar bothered adding that filter type) didn't seem to match the rest, but then who cares the rest is really nice. Job done for a top "bike movie" theme in the video pile for GTA IV PC. The Christmas holidays are going to stop me doing anything now until the new year but I have 2 on the boil, one of them might be edited more in Vegas, but I keep ending up "going to the dark side" with scenes, so expect something disturbing in the new year. GTAMonkey2012
Me too i've got the same problem, i've got an error when im trying to upload my video I did on my last one, yet it was uploaded even though it had the "upload failed" message. you will know how many people have this error when you see new videos up tagged as only "GTA4 Rockstar Clip" and description "GTA4". Seems to me the issue is the tagging and description part, that should pop up after the video upload, its at that moment (when all video is up as I look at my modem and can see the mad buffering has finished) that it stated "failed". so I see it as a bug at SS end not video issues as such. Proof is after I went back to editor then back to the upload page it refreshed to show my video on on social club, and again same empty tags. Also I cant tag after, we need this sorted so we can go manually into videos from the site and re enter the tags, they are my complaints so far about Social club and uploading.
