SONY COOKIE CUTTER Same here, i googled yesterday and today for about 6 hours trying to fix my black screen, until finally decided to try here. Well i'm glad the info helped as that was the idea. The original thread ref the video issue was not bumped much and the guy who found out while fiddling in Vegas is credited in the first post (so big thanks to him) it was also driving me mad what to try. I added it here just to spread the info a bit more. As i'm posting i'm working on a new video of much twisted moments .. or as I like to put it "cinematicly edited wrongness" Hoping to have it up fairly soon, much more relying on Vegas on this one too. GTAMonkey2012
Not me I kind of given up with social club now really. Mainly becuase I have modded the game slightly and so don't really go online with it for now, probably wont now until I complete the game and i' m only 35% through so its slow progress. Its worth doing, but I'm starting to want to do things that the editor cant for some idea I have now. I have 6 mins of short clips all as one large 720p file and a few fraps captures all thrown into vegas with some film music .... now all I need is free time to really go to work on it . Pulling out all the stops on this next one ... it will be disturbing, and i mean ... like horror .... well ... sort of Good luck folks putting up videos on SC, hit the thread up if you win Yes slingshot, deffo put yours up ... well worth it. PS - this isnt a negative toward the editor (it rules) or Social Club ... its just that I keep offline currently with the game in general which is the main point. SlingShotUK
Yeah I know what you mean to be honest. I have got sick of how slow social club can be and how badly it is to find videos on it. My views have pretty much flat lined now (440 or so) as people just aren't coming across it. Featured videos get 30,000+ views but I noticed they kept the same featured vids up for weeks and weeks. It's also a downer that you can't upload HD movies to it although with the speed issues this would be a non-starter anyway. Online wise, doesn't xliveless etc only affect Gaming for Windows, not social club? So you can not play online but you should still be able to upload shouldn't you? Your new in development movie sounds like it's going to be sick.. Looking forward to it, especially with the film music and vegas approach. They do take a lot of time to work on though.. Took me quite a few hours last night just to cut my video down from 4:40 to 3:00.. Amazing how quickly the time flies.
High
Okay, so. i'm going to get really down and dirty with some tiny details so only read if you're a perfectionists and want your work to be top notch. Uploading .wmv files to youtube in 30fps will get the first 4 frames of the video track to miss the playtime in the flv file and so you'll have an audio sync fraction of 4 frames (0.13 seconds in a 30fps video) so the audio will seem delayed. I made a video that leans heavily on audio sync and found out about that. it's been like that from the launch of the site because they use a crappy wmv converter. Here's a video example where i pulled the video track 4 frames back before uploading to achieve perfect sync down to the frame level. example video
SlingShotUK
Right I finally managed the epic challenge of uploading a video to social club, not having it time out and being able to input the description and tags.. lol. Last night I spent quite a few hours editing down my first proper GTA movie to 3 minutes from 4:45 for the best in class 2 competition at Rockstar Social Club.. Was tough at times - not wanting to cut out some of the shots but I think it works out pretty well. Much snappier edit now, although I still prefer the original. Here are the details / links etc for those interested: You can't escape the law A psychological black comedy. When you're a career criminal life isn't easy. Each day brings with it the fear of betrayal, arrest and death. With the stresses this creates it can sometimes be hard to tell what is real and what is delusion. On this night, one such man is about to find out that you can't escape the law, or the depths of your own mind. GTAMonkey2012
@HIGH - thank mate, that's very helpful , im an audio sync nut, nearly all I do is in some way tied to flow of music. Funny my next thing is all about music sync and using audio in vegas than the editor so i will keep an eye on this for sure. (will ad this tip to first post too). You seem to be "into" specifics on the vegas side so anything else you come across feel free to post it here if you wish PS - DAMN! ... the video you made was EXACTLY what I had planned, with classical music and nice scenic pan shots, good job, not enough of those videos. EDIT: Can I ask what is your project FPS when you start the initial project in Vegas, dumb question but you are using 30fps template HD right? @SlingshotUK - Im also the same about social club, its very much a case of if you get into the top videos your made for hits, then there is just a sea of everybody else swimming in no mans land, the search is awful and cant see how tags help that much. They realy need to update the whole site with better tag searching, tag manipulation and "Most Viewed" "Most Rated" and then even break down sections with sub categories .. but I doubt that will happen soon. Its only good if you spread the links yourself, or you new video stays up in the latest box long enough ... but that's about it. Ive seen video's in that top 10 section and I often question just how some came to be 32,000 hits as the actual video and edits are ummm ... nothing super special, strange. Also compared to even whats been posted here, seen far better & creative stuff in this forum than on that sites top list. Also you vid still cracks me up, the "peak through the banisters" gets me every time EDIT: just added HIGHS tip and also added one extra bug ive found in the editor also in the first post. The social club is truly awful.. If it's not slow due to server problems, it's slow due to an awful interface. I think the whole featured videos thing has been down to bad management on the admin's part. They must have tagged some to appear in that section early on in the life of the site but then failed to bring new ones in. That has meant the same videos have had amazing hits. It's really annoying.. Just like you say, our videos sit in no-mans land.. Almost seems useless uploading in some ways. Agreed that they need a total redesign to allow people to easily find new videos and give everyone an equal chance. LOL, glad that still gets you. There are times in that video that I'm convinced Niko is responding to the situation - the bit where he walks to the diner door and see's the cop's outside.. He looks so confused.. lol. Did you get a chance to check out my new shorter edit? If so, how do you think it compares to the original? It was quite a task to work out what to cut at first. GTAMonkey2012
The shorter edit is actual better, I notice you killed off the walking in the house detail from the start, I think in all fairness without it you miss nothing so its well worth the "trim". All in all a good edit, does the job nicely, gets you into the point of it fast and, well .. crack me up Also you will find just how much detail gets missed becuase your 3rd person view in this game. In the latest thing im doing I have some cinematic edited hand to hand street fighting, once you get in to the editor and get to close camera level you realise just how much animations are in the faces of characters when hit, punched, surprised, angry ... so your point about nico is that it very much will be a reaction to situations (and slick edits). Nico's face after a headbutt ... "angy mofo" As regard Social Club its good for what it needs to be, but "long term" realy does now need a better filtering, tag, search engine for it. Especialy now its filled up since December with many many videos.

I quite like it as it delays the 'reveal' of the cops and I wanted to make the viewer wonder what might be coming next. But now that you mention it I do see where your coming from. I think it is purely for ambience really but your right, it doesn't really take a way a lot from the video and the reveal still feels right. I've still got a lot to learn in this editing game.. I know what you mean about all the detail you miss when just playing the game. I love Niko's super anger expression. I want to use that in future videos as it's a great look. This is usually caused by the awful R* servers that can often be down or super slow. Sometimes if you keep trying it can suddenly work. On the other hand, why not render your video out on 720p and upload to YouTube. The quality will be far nicer that way and to be honest the social club is so bad (in terms of performance) it's probably the better option to getting your video seen. What in game settings were used when rendering this? Have you tried capturing with lower quality textures just to check if that fixes it? I've never had those flashing issues - they look awful. Be interesting to identify the factors that cause it.

I used to get that with videos longer than a minute. I think that it will always fail if you don't set your graphics settings high enough during rendering. If you, like me, have only a 256 MB graphics card, but have lots of system memory (I have 4GB), you can add -availablevidmem 2.0 to your commandline.txt, and set your graphics settings higher just before you go into the editor to render the video. You can still keep the settings at the normal ones for editing the clips, just set them higher for rendering. Before the new patch came out, I successfully uploaded two 3 minute clips after setting my graphics settings to 1200x700, textures medium and sliders at 25 (shadows at 3 or 4). Then one video uploaded immediately, and the other after only 3 messages of "upload failed". I don't know how the new patch affects this.

It a really long time to wait for nothing Welcome to the wonderful world of the uploading to Social Club fun and games. Seriously its been happening intermittent for me and loads of others from 3 days into release of the game, i was upping videos round about the 4th of December and it was happening then. The volume of uploads and also the network on Social club isn't so great at times. best thing to do is up it off-peak times when you know other parts of the world are sleeping. Or simply try again ... no real "solution" to it to be honest with you . I cant say its parch 2 that's the problem, check out the troubleshooting area for that and see if others report it, but so far its been a trickle of people with that issue = its the usual social club problem before patch one, after patch one, and after patch two .. mainly the servers their end.
