Only bad thing is that i have to re-enable and disable every time I want to play, but who cares?! It works!

Well, Ati's new drivers install driver for HD Audio and that seems to be messing around with Realtek's HD drivers. Check your control panel's audio section. In my comp, ATI's HD audio driver is called ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio - ATI AA01, just disable that and you should be able to play the game properly. Byku
HOLY CRAP!!!! IT WORKS!! Ok... What I did? IT WAS AN ACCIDENT . I tried to overclock my cpu... then i went back to windows and lanched Prime95 and began torture test! I thought... what the hell... let's try GTA... SUDDENLY! IT WORKS! PERFECT! THIS GAME IS BEAUTIFUL NOW! ON MAX DETAILS! DAMN! Then alt+esc and I've closed Prime95. After a while I closed GTA to try to launch it without Prime... the bug happened again. So what to do? First prime95 and torture test, then launch GTA, then alt+esc and close Prime95. HAH ...
Rosbjerg
Alright let me get this straight.. You start Prime95, start torture mode - and while it's running you start up GTAIV, then you enter the game - and when you're in (aka seeing Niko) you alt-tab out and stop Prime95? I did the above and the game actually started behaving normally, but then it was rather sluggish and I got the RESC10, meaning my graphic card was out of memory (no wonder). jsmbennett
Hi guys! I have the exact same problem. Here are my specs: E8400 3.0Ghz 4GB RAM 9800GX2 Asus P5QC Motherboard It's the motherboard. I do not believe it's the Realtek audio, I DISABLED mine in the BIOS and upgraded my sound card to a Creative X-Fi card. I am using the latest BIOS from Asus. I do not think it's a graphics card issue either, since we are all using different cards. I called Rockstar tech support about it, and they said they never heard of such an issue. Everyone please call their tech support and let them know so this issue may actually be patched one day... I'll do some troubleshooting and let you guys know what I come up with. Hite
I'm using 8.11 drivers and Win Xp 32bit. Here's the screenshot of my control panel if it would help. Btw, you tried changing your bios? There's option to change Realtek HD to Realtek '97.
Rosbjerg
Gotta help me out with that - I have no idea how to change Realtek HD to 97. Didn't anyone else try this except Hite and got it to work?

Rosbjerg
Tried everything here.. man this is getting frustrating. This bug is also quite uncommon it seems, so we probably won't see a patch for it.
