Every time I try and boot up the game it just goes to a DOS window and stays blank.

I have a GTX260(177.92) and a e8400. I have .net framework 3.5

Anyone else having this problem or know how to solve it?

Hi,

exactly the same problem here, but with a 8600GT 256Mb ddr3

Windows XP Pro SP3, all .net versions from 1.0 to 3.5 installed, all updated to the last version...

I sent an email to R* but i don't think the answer soon...

If I have any luck I will let you know...

You say when you launch it, it's just blank. Here's something to help:

A:If screen is blank, and you hear intro music or menu sounds, means your graphics card is weak.

B:If screen is blank with no sound, it has to do something with updating drives.

Hope this will help smile.gif

Do you have a firewall?

You maybe be getting a message for exe's to connect to the net but behind the window ... alt-tab and look when your at the blank screen, also make sure any firewall you have isnt blocking, both secrom / social club & the main GTAV exe try to connect throughout that loading part.

the dos window is the scurom part kicking in to laungh and then the main GTAV exe .. so check your firewall, if its allowed and your not online it will carry on anyway but have a look see.

Im just guessing as your getting a pause like its waiting.

I think the first thing it checks is to see if you're connected to the Social Club. Do you have the R* application in the system tray? If it is right click on the icon and click open. Make sure you're logged in.

It might also check to see if you've got the DVD in your drive at first. Do you see your cursor as a disc symbol when you launch the application?

What version of windows are you running? If it's Vista try right clicking on the launchgta4.exe in the root of the GTA4 folder in your program files and select 'Run as administrator' to see if that makes a difference.

If we really have the same problem, I can answer that. The social club does not even run... well, it initially launch two processes, but after a few seconds both of them disappears.

If I try to run GTA IV I can see the DVD cursor, then appears the command line window, then all disappears and nothing more happens.... no error message.

If I try to run GTA without the DVD inserted I get a "no disc found" error, but with it, I get nothing... from this, I'm guessing that securom detects correctly the disc, I think is something else...

With me it at least gets to the RGSC and everything...

Everything looks FINE and then once the game seems to be "loading" it doesn't do anything

I press play. A dos looking window comes up. It's blank with a little _ flashing but nothing ever happens

It's so horrible. Us people with mega rigs just want to play already.

R* should have tested this game across alot more systems before releasing.

Good luck to everyone. I Just want to play. =(.

Hi all again,

After trying everything I haven't been able to run R*GSC in my Windows XP SP3, .net 3.5, and all that crap updated to the last version....

So, after much frustration, I ended up installing Windows Vista 64 SP1 in an old IDE Hard Disk, just for try anything as different as possible to my current SO.... well It worked in the first shot!!

I don't think its due to Vista, but just because of the clean install I made, after 2 days of reinstalling every possible driver, and reinstalling the game itself like 4 or 5 times, I just thought my system was too messed up, and it needed a cleanup...

Well nothing seems to have worked for me sad.gif

A mate mentioned he had heard issues about SecuRom and multi CD/DVD drives, anyone else heard this, a quick google didnt throw much up. Have tried disabling one of my drives to see if that did anything, doesn't seem to.

I just wish there was some sort of error message, just closing and taking me back to the Social Club is NOT HELPFULL! sad.gif

I Have the DOS Screen too in begin, but it stays a while and then the game launches and after quiting it goes away.

Maybe you just have to wait for a while or reboot your computer and then try again and wait a little while. Its working for me.
