Works fine for me the way Dr.Whiz described it. Using the retail copy on vista 64.

Don't worry, you're not missing much. I have an e8500 and a 4870 1gb card, to get it playable i need to run it with draw distance at 30 and details at 20. IF i max it out (like i should be able to if rockstar didn't release a sh*tty game) then it crashes constantly anyway.

I can save it just fine but it doesn't do anything in terms of "no restrictions" lol.

I cant run any gtaiv related exe file.The only way i can play the game is by opening rockstar social club, and clicking the giant play button in the bottom left of the window.I tried applying this to the rockstar social club shortcut, and nothing happens.I want to run the game without having to go through the rockstar gay club.

Try using the "Launch GTA IV" exe. I was in the same position as you and i was like WTF? but then I saw that there was a "hidden" exe that wasn't labeled.
